Although he is one of the company’s founders, he was penalized by the rules, as he did not always comply with them. Marc Merrill, also known as Riot Tryndamere, was forced to ban his central League of Legends account.

Given that League of Legends launched more than ten years ago and is fast approaching its 15th anniversary, it’s easy to assume that the game is full of fascinating stories. Some are related to its characters, others to significant changes that have affected the title; some others are referring to the company’s employees.

Numerous people have passed through Riot Games, and each has a fascinating anecdote to share, though perhaps none can compare to the story of one of the company’s founders. The reason is simple: his main account is permanently banned from his game.

Tryndamere revives this story

The creator was responsible for reviving the story as proof that it had been completely overcome. He also talked to players and ratified a larger budget for League of Legends competitions.

Riot creator Tryndamere has banned himself from League of Legends

Entrepreneurs Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck are the creators of Riot Games, although they call themselves Tryndamere and Ryze because they are the ones who gave nicknames to those characters. The thing is that Tryndamere was not always a good example for the LoL community.

In 2012 he shared his account with another player, violating a basic rule that has always been in place in the video game. The developer does not always penalize this behavior, but according to its rules, this is sufficient justification for a permanent ban

To prevent professional players from engaging in misconduct, punishments for this activity are almost always reserved just for them. But they are rarely so severe. Unfortunately, however, the founder of Riot Games made many mistakes.

In addition to sharing his account with another user, he also posted on his social networks the results of the games he played on his account as if he were the protagonist, in addition to having a higher skill level than its creator and playing in a particular way. The user with whom he shared his account had been repeatedly banned from League of Legends.

Jaximus was the user in question who used Tryndamere’s account. So, in essence, he was the creator of splitpush and was merely using Jax.

At the same time, there were recordings of games where the founder of the primary account and the secondary Riot Games account were on the same team.

Punishment for breaking the rules

The pressure that formed after this news was made public made the developer’s managers take action.

Riot Tryndamere made a publication where he communicated the following:

“I have been rightly accused of having shared my account in 2012. We feel this is not right at all, so that I will be donating (fining myself) $10,000 to City Year L.A.”.

In addition to the money, equivalent to the fines applied to professional players, the co-creator of Riot Games also banned his main account.

It is important to note that Tryndamere can, of course, continue to play League of Legends. This is because Riot Games does not usually apply personal punishments to players but to their game accounts.
