The first major tournament of the second half of 2023, the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, is nearing its end, and right now, we know the first team to qualify for the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, NiP. There is no doubt that this is a great surprise, considering that they faced Team Vitality, one of the best teams in the world, in the Group A Grand Final.

However, the NiP squad, once again led by Hampus “hampus” Poser, gave an exceptional performance. As a result, Team Vitality was crushed with an incredible score of 0-2 to have to play their way to the Fall Finals from the Play-In Phase.

There is no doubt that the fans are completely happy with this result, and many point out that Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen did not do his job well in NiP. However, it is worth noting that these NiP players are mostly very young and need some time to adapt to the top competitive level.

NiP’s path in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups

No doubt, no one thought NiP could achieve this feat in the BLAST Premier Fall Groups, even more so considering that they lost their first game to Complexity Gaming 1-2. However, the team recovered quickly and gained confidence by beating Evil Geniuses in the Lower Bracket to stay alive in the tournament.

Then, they had their revenge against Complexity in the Lower Bracket Final, where they took revenge and got an excellent 1-2 victory to seal their ticket to the Group A Grand Final.

NiP vs. Team Vitality – Grand Final Recap

Undoubtedly, the table was set for Team Vitality to get the victory and qualify directly for the Fall Finals 2023. In addition, all the BLAST casters and commentators gave their predictions, and Vitality was everyone’s absolute favorite.

However, NiP and their young lineup thought otherwise and got a clean sweep to seal their ticket to the Fall Finals 2023.

It all started in Mirage, NiP’s map pick, where Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin played hero to lead his team to victory. Although Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut did his best to help Team Vitality win the match, it was not enough, and they lost 13-16.

In the first half, Team Vitality took a narrow 8-7 win, and at that point, alarm bells went off in the team, as NiP was playing phenomenally. At the change of sides, Ukrainian and NiP’s young star, Daniil “headtr1ck” Valitov, woke up and stopped Vitality’s attacks to lead NiP to a 16-13 victory.

Then, on the second and final map of the series, Overpass, we again encountered a Team Vitality that managed to win the first half 8-7. However, unlike Mirage, the Vitality guys had the advantage of closing the map on the CT side, but this was not enough. Fredrik “REZ” Sterner and Brollan switched sides to shred ZywOo and Vitality’s offensive approaches to take a 16-14 win and seal their ticket to the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2023.
