Arcane Wonders has revealed Call of Duty: The Board Game, a tabletop edition of Activision’s iconic shooter game, with a Kickstarter campaign set for Fall 2023 and a release window of 2024.

Call of Duty: The Board Game, a new tabletop adaptation of the well-known first-person shooter series Call of Duty, will be released by Arcane Wonders. According to Arcane Wonders, the game will be set in the same time period as 2019’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and include weapons that will be known to series fans.

The board game will feature several Call of Duty game maps, where players will engage in violent, “fast-paced,” battles against one another. Although additional gameplay specifics are currently being kept under wraps, the game will feature miniatures of different Call of Duty soldiers. Players will be able to combine two sets for four-player battles, and the two-player base game would cost around $50 when it launches in stores.

Even though the next product is a board game, it will be handled as a live-service video game with the gradual addition of miniatures, weapons, maps, and modes. The upcoming Board Game will officially launch in 2024 but it will be available for pre-order on Kickstarter by the end of 2023.

Arcane Wonders will expand the CoD world beyond displays and onto boards

Arcane Wonders was established in 2012, and since then, it has produced numerous award-winning titles including Sheriff of Nottingham and Mage Wars Arena. Arcane Wonders has previously successfully tackled the challenge of adapting other media with the release of games like Hello Neighbor: The Secret Neighbor Party, which was adapted from the Hello Neighbor and Secret Neighbor video games, and RWBY: Combat Ready, an adaptation of the Rooster Teeth RWBY series.

According to Bryan Pope, the project’s lead designer and CEO of Arcane Wonders, the team put a lot of effort into developing the game and capturing the spirit of this well-known series in order to produce a title that both communities could enjoy at the same time. When the finished product finally hits the shelves, it will be interesting to see how well the Call of Duty first-person shooter gameplay translates into a board game.

On the other hand, the FPS franchise COD seems to be expanding its universe to a new platform with this cooperation, which is undoubtedly another step towards a broader future. Once Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision is approved, the franchise will also debut on the Nintendo Switch.
