Respawn Entertainment is allegedly working on a new Titanfall game set in the Apex Legends universe. However, the game is unlikely to be the first-person shooter title fans have been waiting for.

The recent Respawn Entertainment job posting speaks of great freedom in world design. This sounds very much like the start of a new franchise in the Apex Legends universe. The brand new single-player experience was announced in a tweet last year.

New single-player FPS in the works

Many job postings from the original tweet refer to senior positions, so we can assume that a small team will build the base of the game before full development is approved. Unfortunately, the post does not reveal much about the new game.

On Respawn Entertainment’s website, the game is described as “Apex Universe FPS Incubation title”. However, that’s the only information we can get from the job postings. In any case, we know at least that the game will be related to Titanfall or Apex Legends. As it’s set in the same universe, hopefully the new title will complement the stories of both games.

Many fans may have been disappointed by this announcement as they are waiting for Titanfall 3. However, this game seems promising too. There is nothing left to do but wait for more of the game to be revealed. As soon as the job advertisements no longer refer to managerial positions, one can assume that development will progress. Until then, only patience helps.

No Apex August

Over the past few months, the console and PC versions of Apex Legends have been plagued by a plethora of bugs, ranging from common issues like incorrect hit registration, input lag, connection and server issues to skills not working. For much of the community, these bugs became really frustrating. Furthermore, players are angry because neither Respawn nor EA have really commented on the issue. While there have been some attempts to fix the problems, they have been rather unsuccessful.

In response to the buggy state of game, players expressed their dissatisfaction on social media. The dissatisfaction comes mainly from the lack of communication and the fact that the developers are still selling in-game items like skins and battle passes for real money while the game is buggy. After weeks of complaints, a group of players got together and created No Apex August.

The movement started with a Reddit post by user LaughingPrince. On June 29, he suggested that the community boycott the game for a day to attract the attention of the developers and finally elicit an appropriate reaction from them.

However, a day turned into a month. The supporters of the #NoApexAugust hashtag explained that they are not ready to play the game right now. They also encourage people not to buy skins and other cosmetics from the in-game shop. Some users doubt whether they can achieve anything and suggest simply not playing.

A very helpful comment on the original post is said to come from a former QA tester for EA, who listed a few reasons why Respawn might be slow to respond to bugs. According to him, it’s up to the publisher and not the developers.

While there’s a decent part of the community that seems willing to try the boycott, it’s unclear what effect No Apex August will have in August. So far, neither Respawn nor EA have responded to the movement or the fans involved.
