Following MIBR’s elimination at the ongoing PGL Major Antwerp 2022, the organization has announced the benching of Adriano “WOOD7” Cerato. The MIBR CS:GO roster stays without an in-game leader for now.

The roster change comes shortly after a 1:2 loss against Bad News Eagles in the Major’s Challengers Stage which caused the team’s early departure. While no replacement has yet been revealed, according to a report by Dust2.br, which first brought the news, WOOD7 will be replaced by Breno “brnz4n” Poletto from the MIBR Academy team.

In MIBR’s official statement, Strategic Coach Renato “nak” Nakano said on WOOD7’s benching:

“Woody has always been important to us and we are very grateful to the professional he was during these 8 months with MIBR. Since bit1 came in, the team has evolved a lot tactically and we feel that we need to take a bigger step and a higher impact AWP.”

The team’s coach Bruno “bit” Lima also commented:

“Our thinking continues to evolve for the next championships and we know that it will be a great challenge ahead due to the role he played, but we have a team very capable of changing roles and adapting in the best possible way for the good of the team.”

WOOD7’s CS:GO journey

MIBR first signed WOOD7 last year in October as a part of the team’s revamp following the underwhelming 2021 season. The new MIBR lineup dominated the North American CS:GO scene, winning the ESEA Season 39 NA, ESEA Cash Cup NA Spring 2022 and the ESL Challenger League NA Season 40.

Although with an early finish, he had also brought the team to its first CS:GO Major since 2019. Except for that, however, the MIBR roster didn’t see any significant achievements on the international scene under WOOD7’s lead.

Prior to joining MIBR, the 26-year-old Brazilian AWPer spent almost two years playing for Bravos Gaming, dominating many lower-tier regional competitions. He has been in professional CS:GO since 2017 and other teams he played with include Team RUFUS and RED Candis.

Brnz4n has been a part of MIBR Academy team since its inception in August 2021. He stood in for the main squad on multiple occasions, including BLAST Premier Spring Groups and IEM Katowice earlier in February.
