MSI 2023 details revealed

Weeks go by, and we are getting closer and closer to the arrival of the first big event of the 2023 League of Legends season. Of course, we are talking about the Mid-Season Invitational or, as we all know it, the MSI.

Riot Games has officially announced all the details regarding the MSI 2023, such as the exact location where it will be played, the tournament’s theme, the format, and much more. Stay with us to discover all the details, as this is just starting.

MSI 2023 details

As we already know, the League of Legends 2023 competitive season is already underway in all regions worldwide. Each has its respective Splits, which have generated many expectations, surprises, and emotions. In all these regions, the stage that will define some quotas for the MSI 2023, the tournament held annually in the middle of the year, is already underway.

According to Riot, the MSI 2023 will be played from May 2 at the Copper Box Arena, London, United Kingdom. A total of 13 participating teams will battle it out in this tournament edition. This venue is located in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The Copper Box Arena has hosted major esports events such as the Rocket League Championship Series Spring Major 2022. In addition, the recently culminated Apex Legends Global Series Split 1 Playoff.

MSI 2023 Format

The Mid-Season Invitational 2023 will feature a new format with two double-elimination stages. Also, as we mentioned, thirteen teams will be participating in this edition instead of eleven, where representatives from the LEC, LCK, LCS, and LPL will have two teams competing.

MSI 2023 starts, as we mentioned, on May 2 with the Play-In stage, which ends on May 7. Then, two days later, the Bracket Stage will start, lasting until May 20.

Riot Games will have in this edition of the tournament the Lower Bracket in both stages. Those teams that lose their series will fall in the Lower Bracket to have an extra chance to stay in the race.

MSI 2023 theme

There will be one word that stands out this time: DEFY. Riot said:

“Defy expectations. Defy haters. Defy doubts. MSI is all about showcasing regional strength midway through the season. It’s the first step toward greatness, pushing beyond limits and showing up with a spirit of defiance.”

Ticket prices

For those interested in attending the Copper Box Arena in London, tickets will be on sale from February 23, 2023. And ticket prices will range from £29 ($29) to £94 ($113).

The official tournament dates are:

• Play-In Stage: May 2-7
• Bracket Stage: May 9-14 and May 16-20
• Final: May 21
