The first Halo Infinite esports global event is here! The Halo World Championship 2022 kicks off today in Seattle, boasting a hefty $1 million prize pool.

The apex of the Season 1 of the Halo Infinite esports journey will take place at the Seattle Convention Centre from October 20 through October 23.

Participants

A total of 20 teams will be duking it out this weekend for the title of Halo World Champions. Out of all participants, 12 teams have directly qualified for the group stages of the tournament through placement at the Orlando Major back in September, namely:

Before the group stage officially starts, the remaining eight teams will have to partake in a play-in stage to earn one of the four remaining slots in each group. 

Those eights teams are:

Format 

The tournament format of the Halo World Championship 2022 is split into three stages. The first, play-in stage takes place on October 20 with no audience and will feature the top two teams from four regions that didn’t qualify through Orlando Major 2022. The teams will play in a double-elimination bracket, with the top four squads qualifying for the group stage. 

The group stage will see four groups of four teams battling in a single-round-robin format to determine which teams go to the Championship Bracket. 

The top three teams from each group will then advance to the Championship Bracket, with the top two squads getting their slots in the upper bracket and the third team getting a slot in the lower bracket.

The first-ever World Halo Infinite Champion will be crowned at the end of the double-elimination Championship Bracket, which will see 12teams go up against each other to have their names remembered in Halo history. Each series will be played in the best-of-five format, except for the Grand Final series, which will be best-of-seven.o bracket reset will be needed for the team coming through the lower side.

Prize pool and viewership rewards

The prize pool for Halo World Championship is $1,000,000 and unlike in other previous Halo events, this amount has not been inflated by the community’s contribution. The winners will take home $400,000. 

For watching the Halo World Championship, fans can also receive up to six different viewership rewards, which will be active at various times during the championship weekend.

The Winner’s Circle nameplate is the only reward that will be available during the entire weekend and viewers can get this award if they have their Twitch channels linked with their Microsoft accounts.

The On Track set of in-game items with an emblem and coating will be available to those who tune in on October 23, which is Sunday. For two hours of watch time, spectators can receive Gladiator’s Edge coating. Moreover, an exclusive reward can be received by those who tune in during the Grand Final, set for Sunday, October 23. After watching for an hour, fans can receive Gladiators Edge BR and the ‘HaloWC’ Charm. 

In addition, exclusive bonuses will also be available for viewers watching the Halo Champs on the official co-streams of the event. Watching through any of the co-streams will earn an exclusive coating and stance for watching four hours throughout the weekend.
