Soraka is the latest champion to join the ever-growing Legends of Runeterra roster! Needless to say, after yesterday’s announcement, this was pretty much foreshadowed. Still, an official reveal is where things get a whole lot more interesting!

There’s still one more champion left (with Tahm Kench and Soraka now official), so this is far from Riot’s final Monuments of Power reveal!

So what does Soraka bring to the table? Well, quite a lot it seems like!

Legends of Runeterra — Soraka Reveal

Soraka” is a 3 mana champion with 1 | 6 along with a Support effect that’ll heal her and her supported ally for 4 HP. It seems as though playing against Soraka in Legends of Runeterra will be equally as frustrating as it is in League of Legends.

To level her up, you’ll need to heal damaged allies 4+ times. Once that happens, she’ll have 2 | 7 and an even more oppressive passive: the first time you heal a damaged unit each round, you’ll get to draw a card. Her Support effect will still remain, but it’ll be noticeably more potent as it’ll fully heal both Soraka and her supported ally.

In other words, if you’re playing against Soraka and can’t remove her from the field quickly enough, you’ll be in a lot of trouble.

Brand-New Targon Cards

As always, Soraka is accompanied with multiple cards that will further enable and empower her unique playstyle.

Soraka’s Wish” is a 3 mana Slow spell that’ll fully heal all damaged allies and shuffle a Soraka into your deck. If you’re scratching your head right about know, know that you’re not in the minority. This card, for just three mana, is absurdly powerful. Heck, it doesn’t even make sense. Sure, Soraka is known as a potent healer, but this might be pushing things a bit too far.

Astral Protection” is a 4 mana Burst spell that’ll heal an ally for 4 HP and grant it +0 | +4. Expect to see this card a lot if you’re playing against a Soraka/Targon-themed deck.

Stargazer” is a 4 mana unit with 3 | 4. Her effect, however, is the real kicker. Once you heal a damaged ally (and “Stargazer” is on the field) that ally will automatically become Elusive for the remainder of the round. So if you have a potent healing mechanism — most of which have just been announced — you’ll easily have four or five Elusive units given that you can play “Stargazer” at the right time. So not only will this deck be incredibly frustrating to play against because of an obscene amount of healing, but it’ll also pack a punch if left unattended.

Closing Remarks

Needless to say, Soraka will definitely leave a mark meta-wise once she hits live servers. Maybe that’s even an understatement. If we were to write any kind of prognosis, we’d have to say that she’s a bit too strong at this point in time. Soraka and her healing-themed cards are cheap and yet unexpectedly powerful. There’s no concrete trade-off or downside, really.

Hopefully this kind of deck won’t take over as much as Aurelion Sol and Leona/Diana did once Call of the Mountain was released.
