Meepo is now the most successful hero of Dota 2 patch 7.33d

Meepo hasn’t been touched by Dota 2 patch 7.33d. He was neither buffed nor nerfed and his previous win rate, though decent, wasn’t as high as his current one.

This week, Meepo’s win rate has been incredible. According to Dotabuff, he is now the most successful hero in Dota 2 with a win rate of 55.35%. He’s even more successful than Medusa, but far fewer players pick him in pubs.

This makes perfect sense given how difficult it is to play Meepo and to do it well enough to win. For those who have played hundreds of Meepo games, this hero is broken in a good way. But for everyone else, he’s either hard to succeed with or annoying to play against.

What makes Meepo so strong

In Dota 2 patch 7.33d, Meepo appears in less than 3% of all games. But when he does appear, he’s usually picked by someone who really understands the hero and can snowball out of control relatively quickly if you don’t do anything about it.

Meepo builds items like Aghanim’s Scepter, Aghanim’s Shard, Dragon Lance (for the stats it gives), Power Treads, Wraith Band, Eye of Skadi, Blink Dagger, and Scythe of Vyse. In some cases, people also buy Diffusal Blade or even Pipe of Insight.

Meepo naturally has good stats but you can greatly enhance his capabilities by purchasing the right items. Fortunately, this hero farms really fast thanks to its clones but also its Poof. By the time you’re level 11, your farming speed is one of the fastest in the game.

This means that as long as you don’t die and don’t lose map control, you should have an easy time farming faster than your opponents and killing anyone who’s out of position. The only thing that’s needed is a Blink Dagger and enough HP to resist enemy attacks.

Against some heroes, such as Disruptor, Meepo is a bit vulnerable. But against other heroes, he’s unstoppable. Given how few people play Meepo well, nobody bans this hero. So you can pick him near the end of the draft if it counters the enemy lineup.

The secret to playing Meepo well is high APM. If you can’t control multiple units at once and pay attention to all of them, don’t even bother. You will absolutely fail each time. But if you’re used to RTS games like StarCraft, then you’ll do fine and succeed with your Meepos.
