The Malaysian MPL community was recently surprised by allegations of match-fixing in the ongoing MPL Malaysia Season 13.

Malaysian MPL organizers have announced that Bountee Esports were alleged of attempted match-fixing by an ex-player and aggressive behavior and conflict within the team, based on a statement released last April 14th.

“The league is currently conducting a full investigation into the above matters and will issue our findings once it’s been concluded,” MPL Malaysia said.

“As Malaysia’s longest-running esports league, MPL Malaysia embodies professionalism and sportsmanship. We encourage everyone to avoid making insensitive or speculative comments, and to remain respectful of various communities in Malaysia, in the spirit of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Thank you,” the statement ends.

It is still unclear which among the team’s ex-members were responsible for the allegations, as well as what specific aggressive behavior and conflict the team was into.

In its own statement, Bountee Esports said they are already cooperating with MOONTON Games, the developer of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, and asked the public to stop spreading speculations.

“We always value social harmony and fair treatment as we practice mutual respect within our organisation and in our engagements outside the organisation. Our goal will remain to empower talents through gaming, regardless of your background,” Bountee Esports said.

Bountee Esports told Fragster via private message that they already “submitted all evidence to Moonton” and that they “will have to keep it discreet and work with Moonton until the official result of the investigation is released by Moonton.”

“We will share everything once the official result is released, Bountee told Fragster in the same message.

Currently, Bountee Esports is at 7th place out of 10 teams competing in Malaysia’s pro MPL league, with a 1-2 win-loss record. It is still unclear which among the team’s Season 13 matches were fixed, and in what instances the team had undesirable behavior.
