China will once again host a major League of Legends tournament: the 2024 League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational.

MSI Chengdu 2024 will be held at the Chengdu Financial City Performing Arts Centre from May 1-9.

This is the second MSI to be held in mainland China, the other being in Shanghai back in 2016. This is also the first MSI held in Chengdu.

Riot Games has announced every stage of the 2024 MSI will have fans in attendance, just like how they did in VCT Pacific in Korea.

Major format changes are also part of the MSI, with the 2024 edition’s winner having a guaranteed slot at the 2024 Worlds in London – essentially giving their region one extra slot in the competition.

The second placer of the tournament will also have an additional seed for their region.

The 2024 MSI will have 12 teams, each from the LPL, LCK, LCS, LEC and one each from LLA, CBLOL, PCS and VCS.

The second seeds from LEC, LCS, LCK, and LPL will be competing with teams from different regions in two Bo3 double elimination brackets, with winners and runners-up of the brackets advancing to the next stage. They will join the other four in a single best-of-five double elimination bracket until the Grand Finals.

Tickets will be on sale for the event starting April 2.
