Global Esports, the only Indian Valorant team at VCT, has stunned fans and competitors alike by announcing a complete roster makeover ahead of the 2024 season.

In the wake of a lackluster 2023 season, Global Esports, an Indian organization partnered with VCT Pacific, has made an audacious decision to completely overhaul its Valorant roster. This “hard reset” follows a year filled with ups and downs, ultimately culminating in a disappointing 3-6 regular-season finish and a failure to secure a spot in VCT Masters Tokyo.

The team’s tumultuous journey began with the ambitious recruitment of former XSET in-game leader Jordan ‘AYRIN’ He, a move aimed at setting the tone for their 2023 campaign. The roster was further fortified with players primarily specializing in the Duelist role, reflecting their intention to conquer the Valorant arena. However, it took time for the squad to find their footing and identify their optimal roles.

One pivotal addition was Ganesh ‘SkRossi’ Gangadhar, although his debut was marred by visa issues. Despite these efforts, Global Esports finished a lackluster eighth in the VCT regular season and faced an early exit in the VCT Pacific LCQ for Valorant Champions, losing their first match against RRQ.

Global Esports looking for a fresh start

With the 2023 season now behind them, Global Esports has unveiled its plans for a comprehensive roster shakeup. The organization teased this transformation in a video posted on social media, featuring the current roster’s names being covered by rubble, symbolizing the impending “hard reset.” Currently, only four players remain under contract: SkRossi, Cahya ‘Monyet’ Nugraha, Abhirup ‘Lightningfast’ Choudhury, and Park ‘Bazzi’ Jun-ki.

Notably, AYRIN declared his free agency, Monyet is reportedly linked with Paper Rex, SkRossi is rumored to be departing, and Kim ‘t3xture’ Na-ra’s exit has already been confirmed. Bazzi also recently announced that Global Esports has permitted him to explore other opportunities, while Lightningfast’s future with the team remains uncertain.

While the team’s composition is in flux, one player has been linked to joining Global Esports during the offseason – former Bleed eSports player Wong ‘JayH’ Heng, who has since signed with Ninjas in Pyjamas.

Global Esports is not alone in its quest for a fresh start, as many Valorant teams worldwide are contemplating changes in preparation for the upcoming season. The Valorant Champions Tour in 2024 promises to be a pivotal battleground where established teams aim to reclaim their glory and newcomers seek to establish themselves in the competitive Valorant ecosystem.
