After two disappointing splits in the LEC in 2023, the Spanish organization KOI is considering making major changes to its lineup for the rest of the season. While many names may be on the table right now, it seems the first to arrive on the team would be LEC legend Martin “Rekkles” Larsson.

The surprising news that Fnatic left Rekkles on the bench after he announced his role change to Support opened doors in many teams that undoubtedly dream of having a player of this quality in their ranks. In addition, a team like KOI, which has full support from its owners Ibai Llanos and Gerard Piqué, can afford to sign one of the best players in the history of LoL.

Rumors claim that Rekkles would be KOI’s first signing for Summer Split

The versatile and well-informed journalist Alejandro Gomis published a report on May 1 stating that Adrian “Trymbi” Trybus is no longer part of KOI’s lineup.

KOI finished sixth place in the Spring Split and qualified for the second consecutive LEC Group Stage. However, the results did not meet expectations, and a clean slate is now being considered for the lineup.

According to Gomis, several players are in KOI’s sights to fill the Support position left by Trymbi’s departure from the team. We can read names like Henk “Advienne” Reijenga, current Fnatic Support, and Théo “Zoelys” Le Scornec from LDLC, a team that played the EMEA Masters 2023. However, Rekkles’ recent role change makes him a viable and appetizing alternative for KOI.

Fnatic surprise by announcing that they do not count on Rekkles

Last April 28, Fnatic shocked many fans when they revealed that Rekkles would not be in the team’s starting lineup for the LEC Summer Split 2023. All this after the player announced his role change from AD Carry to Support, a role he had played for ten years.

However, Fnatic’s situation in 2023 has been very worrying, as they were left out of the Group Stage of the Winter Split for the first time in their history. In addition, they were eliminated by MAD Lions in the Group Stage of the Spring Split.

On the other hand, it should be noted that both Rekkles (Fnatic) and Trymbi (KOI) have contracts until November 2024, according to Riot’s contract database. However, because of the aforementioned problems of both teams this season, it is very likely that other teams will acquire these players’ contracts.

The start of the LEC Summer Split 2023 has not yet been announced. However, June is expected to be the start of the tournament, so both teams have enough time to evaluate the options.

Organizations are making sweeping changes to their lineups heading into the remainder of the 2023 League of Legends season. Not only in the LEC but in all regions of the world, major organizations that have failed to exceed expectations have not hesitated to make changes. Moreover, with MSI starting today, many teams have plenty of time to look for new players and for them to adapt to the roster.
