The new skin for the Katana in VALORANT is already getting hate and being called a loser skin. The newest skin bundle in VALORANT, Oni 2.0, is a long-awaited sequel to the original Oni bundle that came out back in 2020.

After several other popular skin bundles such as Prime, Ion, and Glitchpop have already received a sequel, it’s finally Oni’s turn in Episode Six. However, players have already started complaining about the Oni 2.0 melee weapon, mainly because it’s crazy expensive and has one of the highest single-item prices in the game. The worst part, though, is the animation.

Animation interferes with gameplay

Apart from the problems with the presentation and design of the katana, Onimaru Kunitsuna, there is another problem with the animation of the sword. Players are afraid that it will interfere with gameplay.

Actually, skins in VALORANT, just like in other competitive games, should not change anything about the way a weapon plays. Even S-tier skins that change the outline of a gun have minimal effect on the weapon’s effectiveness when used in a 1v5 fight. Although players mostly agree on which skins count as “Aimbot” cosmetics, such as the Prime Vandal, there are no real arguments other than personal preference.

However, the Onimaru Kunitsuna is so large that the animation could give away players hiding in a corner.

Just don’t pull the weapon

The Onimaru Kunitsuna is rather large for a melee weapon, but the problem is that the animation used to draw it is unique to this katana. When drawn, the large sword is drawn too precipitously. For example, if you wait at a corner, the blade could stick out of the wall and give away your position. Reddit users, therefore, describe the knife as a pay-to-lose skin. The question is how often you actually get into such a situation.

Someone else said that you shouldn’t hide in a corner where there are the most problems with the bulky animation on the big swords. Especially don’t try to jump with a longsword in your hand. The animation could give that away to the agents before he even jumped.

So is the Onimaru Kunitsuna worth the money if it could have an impact on actual gameplay?

We’ll find out when more players have purchased and tried out the new bundle. Then we’ll see if the new skin for the Oni is also playable in ranked games or if its size becomes a real problem.
