A few hours ago, Riot Games announced that they had made some changes in the official calendars of the four League of Legends regions of the world, the LCS, EMEA, LPL, and LCK. As well as changes were also announced in the calendar of the Brazilian League of Legends Circuit (CBLoL).

We can also note that there were changes in the days that Valorant Champions Tour matches will be played in the Americas, EMEA, and Pacific.

These changes involve reorganizing the days and times in which the different matches will be played.

Changes in the calendar

League of Legends

  • LCS: Thursdays and Fridays at noon PST
  • LEC: Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays at 06:00 PM CET
  • CBLol: Saturdays and Sundays at 01:00 PM BRT
  • LPL: Monday through Friday at 05:00 PM CST; Saturdays and Sundays at 03:00 PM CST
  • LCK: Match 1 will be played at 03:00 PM KST on weekends, Match 2 at 07:30 PM KST on weekdays, and the third match the following weekend at 05:30 PM KST.

VCT

  • Americas: Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays at noon PST
  • EMEA: Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 6:00 PM CET
  • Pacific: Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays at 6:00 PM KST

Reasons for these changes

LoL Esports has changed the schedule on the calendar, citing the following:

“We want broadcasts that reduce overlaps, schedules that fit viewer preferences, and new opportunities to explore fresh formats and content.”

They also highlighted that after reviewing some “high-level data,” fans are forced to choose to watch between multiple games. So, LoL Esports states that their main goal is to:

“The experience of watching League of Legends eSports be more fun, exciting, and less overwhelming and uncomfortable.”

LoL Esports had to study the fan behavior of all League of Legends and VCT leagues worldwide to make this decision. In addition, they conducted several fan surveys to get more comprehensive information and enlisted the help of broadcasters, regional heads, vendors, and other groups that helped organize Riot’s events.

LoL esports also noted that:

“Going forward, we’re going to continue to listen closely to fans to make sure the changes we’re introducing continue to improve the viewer experience.”

The team is interested in hearing feedback on the changes and hopes they will make it “easier to be a fan.”

Other reasons

In addition to the reasons mentioned above, the following were also highlighted:

  • Fans are always going to follow esports events of their favorite games, regardless of the region
  • LCS fans follow EMEA very closely.
  • As is evident, fans always want to watch the matches and events of their favorite teams.
  • Many fans have highlighted the fact that they feel exhausted after a packed day of LoL matches.
