After weeks of speculation, VCT-partnered team Karmine Corp has finally revealed its Valorant roster for the 2024 season, featuring four new young players and a new head coach.

Karmine Corp made a dismal start to the 2023 season in the newly formed Franchised league, finishing dead last in the EMEA League with two victories, seven defeats, and the lowest round difference of -93 among the three main leagues. The team had one last chance at redemption in the form of EMEA LCQ for the VCT Champions 2023.  Karmine, however, was only able to overcome BBL Esports before getting bombed out of the event. As a result, the French organization decided to completely overhaul the team, keeping just Sh1n from the 2023 lineup.

Karmine Corp. acquired a bunch of potential players from VCT Challengers this off-season rather than choosing to dive into the pool of available free agents. The organization’s first signing is Martin “MAGNUM “Penkov, a former Apeks player who dominated the VCL. Without dropping a match, his squad advanced to the VCT Ascension finals but ultimately lost to GentleM8tes.

Karmine Corp rounds out the roster with three Challenger players

The next players to join the roster are Portuguese duelist Tomás “tomaszy” Machado and American duelist Marshall “N4RRATE” Massey. With his official debut with MAD Lions, N4RRATE—the first NA import to EMEA since franchising began—exploded onto the scene with his exceptional performance. His numbers, according to vlr.gg, painted a different tale even if his squad didn’t have any big victories. He led the pack in average battle score (257.4), average damage per round, and average kills per round.

Tomaszy, on the other side, is a member of SAW Esports, a Portuguese VCL squad that won both the Challengers Portugal Split of 2023, dropping just two maps throughout the two splits. The statistics for Split Two show how much of an impact Tomaszy had on the team’s success, including ACS, damage per round, and kills per round. The squad qualified for the EMEA Ascension playoffs as well, however, they lost to Acend and Gentle Mates and were eliminated without a victory.  The two new additions will be joined by the final member,  Martin “Marteen” Pátek, who is also a Challenger player and made appearances at EMEA Ascension with GMT Esports.

Even though all three players are untested rookies, having two players that can lead you to victory and frag out any time will be advantageous for Karmine Corp, which is eager to bounce back from a dismal first season in franchising. The last member signed by KC is their new head coach, Andrey “ENGH” Sholokov, who coached TSM for most of his 2023 season in the North American Challengers League.  Lastly, ZE1SH, Karmine’s last remaining member of the 2023 coaching staff, will be joining him as an assistant coach.
