Danish star Patrick “es3tag” Hansen has joined Complexity Gaming. The news broke shortly after it was announced that Will “RUSH” Wierzba had been benched by the organization. 25-year-old es3tag was most recently part of the Cloud9 Colossus project, however has spent recent months on the sidelines.

With Cloud9’s Colossus project having ultimately failed, with results having failed to live up to expectations and finances having been difficult too, the entire roster was forced to look for new teams when the org departed the CS:GO scene. With Xeppaa and floppy having made the move to VALORANT, mezii joining Endpoint and in-game leader ALEX remaining a free agent, es3tag has now secured his future with Complexity.

Why Complexity has made roster changes

Following a disappointing run in 2019, which included a poor showing at the StarLadder Berlin Major, Complexity owner Jason Lake set about creating a star-studded roster of his own. Releasing the majority of the former lineup, the org brought in RUSH, k0nfig, blameF, poizon and former 100 Thieves rifler jks.

Although their performances at the BLAST Premier Spring events demonstrated their significant potential as a team, Complexity ultimately made further roster changes. Speaking on Twitter, Lake stated that “we simply didn’t meet our expectations time and time again” and that “a change was needed in the roster.”

will es3tag’s arrival help Complexity?

Es3tag’s experience could well be invaluable to Complexity, with the 25-year-old having enjoyed a successful career with both Heroic and FunPlus Phoenix, before moving to Cloud9 in October last year. He also played for Danish organization Astralis for a short period in 2020, stepping in for g1a1ve and Xyp9x, as the duo took a break from competing due to burnout.

Es3tag is set to make his debut for Complexity in the ESL Pro League, which gets underway on August 16. The org is also currently on the lookout for a new head coach. Jamie “keita” Hall was let go earlier in the week, with next month’s event also potentially seeing the debut for a new coach as a result.
