GIANTX is on the brink of a major coaching overhaul. Jonas “Hidon” Vraa is preparing to vacate his position as head coach, paving the way for Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden, the squad’s strategic coach, to ascend to the top coaching role in the LoL EMEA Championship (LEC), according to inside sources reported by Sheep Esports.

In addition, Kim “Trick” Gang-yun is poised to officially join the team as an assistant coach. Sources suggest that the former jungler has already been contributing to the team during the winter split, though not in an official capacity.

GIANTX Gears Up for Transformation Before the Spring Split

Entering this season as dark horses, GIANTX’s year kicked off with mixed results. Accumulating a score of 4 wins against 5 losses in the group stage, the team narrowly secured a spot in the winter playoffs, finishing in 8th place.

However, their playoff journey was short-lived as they were unable to match up to their competitors, losing all four playoff matches and ending at the bottom of the standings.

Dissatisfied with their recent performance, the organization is initiating changes before the Spring Split in an effort to rectify what has been labeled a “shameful split” by the team’s top laner, Andrei “Odoamne” Pascu.

In a strategic shift, Christophe “Kaas” van Oudheusden will take the helm as head coach, aiming to channel his past successes into leading the team forward. The future role of Jonas “Hidon” Vraa within GIANTX remains uncertain, though he is expected to stay on board in some capacity, as indicated by sources. Kaas and Hidon have been collaborating since their joint arrival at Excel in March 2023.

Adding to the coaching dynamic, Kim “Trick” Gang-yun will formally join the coaching staff. Despite not previously holding an official title, the Korean ex-pro jungler has been involved with the team, offering his expertise from the sidelines, sources report.
