Is Wraith King OP in Dota 2 patch 7.34c?

Wraith King got significant buffs since the start of the new Dota 2 patch, 7.34, and he slowly rose through the ranks thanks to them. At the moment, this hero has a win rate of 53.75%, while his pick rate is getting close to 15%.

His new abilities make him feel a lot like a combination of Undying, Phoenix, and Phantom Assassin. Because of this, he’s very appealing and will work well in a wide variety of circumstances.

What makes Wraith King so strong

Wraith King’s strength comes from many sources. His movement speed is 315, which is great. His natural damage and HP are also excellent. His new talents, which put a lot of emphasis on his skeletons, give him a tremendous amount of power in the early to mid game.

Needless to say, all of his abilities are extremely useful. The only real weakness of this hero is his attribute increase per level. He gets 3 strength, which is great, but only 1.7 agility and 1.6 intelligence. This makes him one of the weakest heroes in this department.

WK’s Wraithfire Blast works well in combination with the hero’s other abilities. It gives 280 damage, a 1.6s duration stun, a -20% movement speed for 2s, and bonuses to your own skeletons against the affected target, allowing them to move and attack faster.

This might not feel powerful if you have a few skeletons, but when you have a whole army, you’ll be like a Broodmother.

Vampiric Spirit gives WK some much-needed lifesteal and, of course, skeletons. You get 8 of them in total at level 4, but you can get more after level 20 if you choose the associated talent. The lifesteal is 20-50%, while the skeletons last for 40s, deal 34 damage (+25% against heroes), and can be pretty powerful, especially against supports.

Mortal Strike deals 150% – 300% damage and has a cooldown of 5.5s – 4s. This means that you are guaranteed to hit 2 300% attacks in most 1v1 confrontations. These attacks essentially give you 4 extra attacks.

If you also purchase an Echo Sabre, that will be 5 extra attacks in 4 seconds, in addition to your typical 5-6. So you’ll get to deal your standard damage x 10 whenever you get the opportunity to attack a target for 4 seconds. This means that a standard damage of around 250 would allow you to deal 2500 damage without any other abilities.

WK’s ultimate provides reincarnation, which is a great tool in team fights.
