Week 6 of the VCT Americas League is underway, and we have Evil Geniuses and Cloud9, who managed to crush Sentinels and MIBR, respectively, to add important victories in the tournament.

Cloud9 continues to shut the mouths of all those who criticized them before the start of the tournament, and with a 6-1 record, they have secured their place in the playoffs. Evil Geniuses, meanwhile, picked up their third win of the tournament to move to a 3-4 record and keep their hopes of advancing to the next phase of the VCT Americas League alive.

On the other side of the coin, Sentinels and MIBR fell to the bottom of the table with a 2-5 record and need to win their last two games to qualify for the playoffs.

Evil Geniuses crush Sentinels 2-0

EG gets their second straight win in the VCT Americas League after a clean sweep of Sentinels 2-0. Alexander “jawgemo” Mor took the MVP of the series after finishing with 167 ADR, 263 ACS, and a 1.26 Rating.

The series was played at Fracture (EG) and Pearl (Sentinels).

Fracture

The emotions started on Fracture, the map pick of Evil Geniuses, and there is no doubt that the guys from EG more than proved why they chose this map to start the series. The team started the first half with everything by winning the first nine rounds, which left Sentinels out of breath very early in the game.

Sentinels tried to react and won the last three rounds of the first half and the first two of the second half. Finally, however, EG found a way to get around Sentinels’ defense perfectly, and they took a comfortable 13-6 victory.

Pearl

Next, we moved on to Pearl, Sentinels’ map pick, where we thought we would see a different game. However, EG wanted to end this as soon as possible, and with a flawless performance from Corbin “C0M” Lee (136 ADR, 222 ACS, and 1.74 Rating), they managed to take an even more comfortable win.

The first half was a real thrashing by EG on their attacking side, as they managed to decipher each of Sentinels’ defensive approaches to take the partial victory by 10-2. Sentinels won the first two rounds of their attacking side again at the change of sides, but this was not enough, and EG closed the map with a resounding score of 13-5.

Cloud9 swept MIBR and qualified for playoffs

After much criticism before the start of the VCT Americas League, Cloud9 put together an extremely solid lineup that has allowed them to qualify for the playoffs after winning six of the seven games played. Although, this week, their victim was MIBR, the Brazilian team could not do much against Nathan “leaf” Orf, who was completely inspired.

The series was played in Split (Cloud9) and Lotus (MIBR).

Split

While it is true that Split started very evenly matched, the first half ended with a very tight score of 7-5 in favor of Cloud9. The Brazilians could not overcome any of the defenses put up by C9 in the second half and ended up losing with a score of 13-5.

For Cloud9, leaf had a brilliant game and finished with 160 ADR, 249 ACS, and a 1.51 Rating. However, he was not alone; all his teammates did the job perfectly and finished with a +1.00 Rating.

Lotus

The second map was more of the same. Again, although MIBR had shown a lot of strength in Lotus in this VCT Americas League, they could do absolutely nothing against a C9 that, without a doubt, was completely inspired.

The North American side won the first half with a solid 8-4 on their defensive end. Although MIBR planted the Spike in five opportunities, they could not withstand C9’s retakes. Then, as the sides switched sides, we witnessed a real thrashing by Cloud9, as they won every round by elimination, meaning the Spike never really exploded.

There is no doubt that C9 is showing a great level, thanks to a really solid team play.
