Following a hugely disappointing year in the League of Legends Championship Series, Immortals are looking to rebuild, with this having started with the release of Jake Kevin “Xmithie” Puchero and the signing of coach Andre “Guilhoto” Pereira.

According to recent reports, Immortals are set to turn down the chance to sign Xmithie up for a second year, which would see the jungler become one of the biggest names on the free agency market. The 29-year-old is the oldest active player in the LCS today, with his career having started APictureOfAGoose back in 2011, having represented the likes of XDG Gaming, CLG and Immortals since then.

Why Xmithie Would Be in High Demand Upon His Release From Immortals

It was with CLG when Xmithie won the 2015 NA LCS Summer Split, helping the team in heading to the World Championship as the no.1 seed from North America. Having ultimately failed to live up to expectation at the event, CLG got redemption just a year later when they won the Spring Split in order to qualify for the Mid Season Invitational. They went on to reach the MSI Finals, before they were eventually knocked out by reigning world champions, SK Telecom T1.

Since then, Xmithie has had a successful two-year spell with Team Liquid, where the jungler won four consecutive LCS titles. Liquid also made it through to the 2019 MSI Final, where they came unstuck against G2. It is such credentials that would make confirmation of Xmithie’s release from Immortals a surprise, although the arrival of Guilhoto as coach demonstrates the beginning of a major rebuild.

Why Immortals are Looking to Make Such Changes

Guilhoto is best known for his time with Schalke 04 and Origen, however given the fact that he only arrived at Astralis back in September, a move to Immortals would be another surprise. Should the move come to fruition, the Portuguese coach would follow in the footsteps of Thomas “Zaboutine” Si-Hassen, who was another European import coach.

Immortals finished in eighth at the LCS Spring Split and tenth at the Summer Split, failing to qualify for a single playoff series in the process, meaning that it comes as little surprise that they are looking to make major changes.
