Changes remain left and right in the main esports organizations worldwide. Right now, we travel to Germany, home of CS:GO team BIG, which has announced that its AWPer Florian “syrsoN” Rische will not be part of the team’s main roster in the ESL Pro League S17.
The German organization has promoted from the team’s academy Marcel “hyped” Köhn to replace the German AWPer star.
Recall that syrsoN had withdrawn from BIG’s starting lineup for the IEM Rio 2023 qualifiers for “personal reasons,” as we mentioned days ago. It is now a fact that the player will be benched indefinitely and will be replaced by the young “hyped.”

Hyped has shown great talent in a short period
As we mentioned, hyped was part of the team in the European closed qualifiers for IEM Rio 2023. The player was instrumental in the development and performance of the team as he was a crucial player in the Lower Bracket of the qualifiers until BIG secured second place. The 21-year-old shined in every way and finished with a 1.25 rating, according to HLTV, in the 12 maps he played.
The young player, hyped, has already played on the main team in the European Closed Qualifier for IEM Brazil 2023, helping BIG progress through the Lower Bracket and secure second place in the qualifier. The 21-year-old shined throughout the online tournament, with an average score of 1.25 across the 12 maps.
With this definitive incorporation of hyped, there will be the long-awaited reunion between him and Karim “Krimbo” Moussa, as the latter was also part of the BIG academy. Together they won the ESL Championship Autumn 2022, beating Sprout in the final.
syrsoN decides to take an extended break
After three years as a key player in the BIG lineup, syrsoN will be on hiatus for now. The player arrived from Sprout in January 2020 and was always considered one of Germany’s top talents.
All the success syrsoN had with BIG was in online tournaments, i.e., in the era of the Covid-19 pandemic. When the LAN games returned, the player had many problems maintaining consistency. This was especially true when playing against top-level teams. We don’t know if the pressure of the scenarios or something else could have affected the performance of this great AWPer.
According to Roman “Roman R.” Reinhardt, CGO of BIG:
“By mutual agreement with Florian “syrsoN” Rische, we have jointly decided that he will remain a substitute player until further notice. In his place, Marcel “hyped” Köhn will take his place in the main CS:GO team… he deserves the chance to show what he is capable of, especially after his important performances at the IEM Rio Qualifier.”
Finally, the starting lineup for the German BIG team is as follows:
- Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz
- Josef “faveN” Baumann
- Karim “Krimbo” Moussa
- Nils “k1to” Gruhne
- Marcel “hyped” Köhn
- Fatih “gob b” Dayik (Coach)
- Florian “syrsoN” Rische (Benched)
