Since its launch in 2020, VALORANT developers have added multiple different game modes to the game to create a more engaging and fun experience for their users.

Following the most recent VALORANT patch 6.0, there are now a total of eight game modes ranging from classic ones like Deathmatch and Spike Rush to new and unique game types like Escalation and Replication.

In each game mode, you will live a unique experience, as all of them offer something for everyone, from beginners to more experienced players. There’s no doubt that with the wide variety of game modes available in VALORANT, you’ll be entertained for hours to come.

Game Modes

Unrated

This is the unrated competitive game mode, considered the standard mode for playing VALORANT games. In Unrated mode, players start their adventure in VALORANT, and after they reach certain levels, they can play competitive games or continue to have fun in non-competitive games.

An Unrated game is a 5v5 experience in which the team that reaches 13 rounds faster wins. If the game ends 12-12, they must play a sudden death round to determine the winner.

This game mode does not affect the rank or MMR of the players. But the same MMR system is used to match players of the same level.

The unranked game mode is ideal for practicing and perfecting your skills.

Competitive

The competitive game mode allows players to demonstrate their skills against other players of the same ranks.

This mode is virtually the same as the non-competitive mode, except that players must win two consecutive rounds to win the match in overtime. In addition, if the players prefer, the game can end in a draw.

This game mode is an excellent way to test your skills against other players in mostly serious games.

Swiftplay

With this new game mode named Swiftplay, you can now play somewhat more violent and faster games. In short, this game mode has all the fun of a regular game in the form of Spike Rush or Replication.

The game mode is simple; the first to reach five rounds, with half of four matches, wins. Unlike Spike Rush, there will be only one Spike carrier in this game mode.

Spike Rush

Spike Rush is a miniature version of the classic games that offer somewhat more arcade and dynamic experiences but with enough changes to be engaging in its own right.

This game mode is designed to be fast-paced and action-packed, with shorter rounds and more orbs that provide advantages and disadvantages.

Unlike ranked or unranked games, Spike Rush does not affect MMR. As a result, it’s a great way to play casually with friends and practice Valorant skills.

Deathmatch

The Deathmatch game mode is a team duel, in which you usually go to improve your aim and prepare before a competitive match. Deathmatch mode has no skills, and the main objective is to warm up.

A deathmatch game ends when a player reaches 40 kills or when nine minutes have elapsed. This game mode is beautiful because it can shoot in a fast-paced environment.

Replication

The Replication game mode is probably the best in VALORANT. When you enter a game of Replication, all players must choose an agent in the lobby.

The game then randomly chooses the agent with whom everyone must play. The game is played best of nine rounds. Teams receive the same amount of credit in each round regardless of who wins or loses.

This game mode is ideal for practicing teamwork and strategy and improving your communication skills.

Escalation

The Escalation game mode is a team duel mode in a 5v5 scenario, where weapons are randomly selected and can be unlocked after the team has reached a specified amount of kills.

Players enter the game with a random agent. The first team to finish level 12, or the most advanced in 10 minutes, wins the game.

Custom Game

Custom Game modes are the least valued in VALORANT, and it’s for one reason — they can help beginners, but they bring no value to veterans. An exception is a driving range, where everyone can practice their aim and reflexes with the tools provided.

The best thing about the tools is that you can choose to respawn rates and everything else depending on your skill level and preferences. Doing a game of Deathmatch and a few minutes of training on the driving range is the best way to prepare for a competitive match.
