While it is true that most of the daily news is about teams that win or qualify for certain tournaments, events, or phases, there is also the other side of the coin, those who did not perform as expected and say goodbye to important tournaments.

This time, Rooster could not win a single match in Group B of the ESL Pro League, and after their defeat against Evil Geniuses by 0-2 in the Lower Bracket, they were eliminated from the tournament. On the other hand, we have a major surprise with the second team eliminated from the group, Heroic. The Danish squad came into this tournament as one of the favorites to win Group B and lift the tournament’s championship trophy. However, the team’s performance was far below expectations, and, with 1 win and 3 losses, they were eliminated from the tournament.

There is no doubt that this is a terrible disappointment for a team that has been a protagonist in all the tournaments they have participated in this 2023. However, it can also be good news because with this, there are no invincible teams, and, of course, the level of CS:GO right now is higher than ever.

Let’s see what happened the previous day in the ESL Pro League S18 Group B Lower Bracket without further ado.

Evil Geniuses destroy Rooster 2-0

The day’s first match left us with an excellent 2-0 victory of Evil Geniuses over Rooster. This elimination match meant the farewell of the Australian squad of this ESL Pro League S18, who could not win a single match in the tournament.

It all started in Mirage, Rooster’s map pick, where EG started with the right foot in the first half on their CT side to take a partial victory by 10-5. Then, at the change of sides, EG’s supremacy continued on their T side, and, after 6 out of 7 rounds won, they achieved a solid and comfortable 16-6 victory.

Then, the teams moved to Nuke, EG’s map pick, where everything started completely different than in Mirage, as the Australian squad surprised everyone with a 10-5 partial victory on their CT side. However, this did nothing but wake up the EG boys, who managed to strike back so that they won 11 consecutive rounds to take an excellent 16-10 victory.

Monte beats Heroic and eliminate them from the ESL Pro League S18

In the last map of the day, we observed one of the great surprises of this tournament, as Monte Esports got an excellent 2-1 victory over Heroic against all odds to eliminate the Danish squad from the EPL S18. Undoubtedly, no one expected this, and it should be noted that Monte grew up and was superior to Heroic.

It all started in Mirage, Monte’s map pick, where we observed two completely different games along the map. In the first half, the Danish team struck the first blow by taking a partial victory by 9-6. However, at the change of sides, Monte Esports posed an impenetrable defense for Heroic since, after 11 rounds, the Ukrainians managed to win 10 of them to take the victory in the first map by 16-10.

Then, the teams moved to Overpass, where both teams left blood, sweat, and tears in each game. In the first half, Heroic again started by striking the first blow with an 8-7 partial victory. Then, at the change of sides, the Ukrainian squad hit back, and in what a way, since they managed to even score 15-15 to send the map to Overtime. Finally, Heroic evened the series 1-1 in OT after an excellent 22-20 victory.

Ancient – Monte send Heroic home

Finally, in Ancient, Monte Esports took care of sending the Danish squad home prematurely in this tournament with an excellent score of 16-10.

In the first half, Monte, on their CT side, managed a tight 8-7 partial victory, which was completely reboundable by the Danes. However, at the change of sides, Monte’s offense, led by Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev, wreaked havoc with Heroic’s defense, and, after 11 rounds, the Ukrainians took the 16-10 victory to eliminate the Danes from the ESL Pro League S18.
