The esports organization of former English professional footballer and now Inter Miami owner David Beckham, Guild Esports, officially announced that they would create a men’s Counter-Strike team to try to compete against the best in the scene. Recall that Guild Esports is no stranger to CS, as they previously had a women’s lineup.

This is great news for fans of the team and the competitive scene in general, as the arrival of this popular team may mark a great sponsorship opportunity. In addition, it may also be the opportunity for some important players who do not currently have a team to return to the scene to compete at the top level or at least at level 2.

Guild Esports to create a men’s CS team

Guild Esports, David Beckham’s esports organization, announced they would create a men’s Counter-Strike lineup. In addition, the team’s official press release mentions that the lineup will be announced before the release of CS2.

As we mentioned, Guild Esports is no stranger to Counter-Strike, as they competed for a while in the women’s scene. However, this is their first foray into the mainstream scene, namely the men’s scene.

Counter-Strike 2 knocked on the doors of Guild Esports

In the official statement, Guild Esports spokespersons mentioned that the arrival of CS2 made the organization much more interested in the competitive CS scene. Moreover, with the changes Valve wants to make in the Tier 1 scene, the costs are expected to decrease significantly so that different male teams can fight in top-level tournaments.

On the other hand, Guild Esports CEO Jasmine Skee said that the experience in women’s CS:GO was satisfactory, and this, coupled with the arrival of CS2, led them to decide to create a men’s team.

Skee said in a press release on londonstockexchange.com:

“Counter-Strike is an iconic esport, with an immense fanbase and more than ten years after launching it continues to grow in popularity. Our entry into the men’s competitions, underscored by the impending launch of Counter-Strike 2, aligns perfectly with our vision to consistently elevate our brand’s presence on a global scale. Following the outstanding reception to our all-female Counter-Strike team earlier this year, we’re eager to further tap into this burgeoning market, seizing the myriad of sponsorship and revenue opportunities it presents”

Separately, it was also reported that Guild Esports’ arrival in men’s Counter-Strike is supported by several sources and sponsors, including a “national federation” of esports. Finally, Guild’s lineup, in addition to the five players, will also have its coaching staff.

It is unclear in which region Guild Esports will compete

As we know, Guild Esports is headquartered in the UK, specifically in London. However, it is still unclear in which region of the world they will compete.

For those who don’t know what Guild Esports is, this organization was created in 2019, gaining popularity in 2020 when David Beckham took the reins as a co-owner. Since then, Guild Esports expanded its divisions into Fortnite, Rocket League, FIFA, VALORANT, and CS:GO Women’s. Now, with the foray into Men’s CS, we look forward to a strong lineup that can compete at the highest level.
