One of the great American promises of League of Legends has decided to try his luck in other airs. We are talking about Johnson “Gryffinn” Le, the 16-year-old American showing all his talent to join a team in the top League of Legends of the LCK.

It’s no secret that the North American League of Legends scene has declined steeply in recent months. Furthermore, the Challengers scene is at its most critical point after almost all top-tier organizations decided to pause their development program after removing the measure that forced them to have an Academy team in the LCS by Riot Games.

Many of these talents will have to find a new home in another region to compete at the highest level in the LoL scene.

Gryffinn is looking for a new home in the LCK

Sixteen-year-old American jungler Gryffinn is trying his luck at a tryout with an (unnamed) LCK team, according to caster and content creator Nick “LS” De Cesare.

According to reports, Gryffinn is the first NA or EU player to participate in the tryouts of a South Korean organization to play in the LCK.

Likewise, there are different drawbacks that, undoubtedly, can be determinant when deciding whether to sign Gryffinn by any LCK team. According to LS, the American jungler does not speak Korean at all, so his communication inside the Summoner’s Rift is mainly based on “pings” on the map or simply on common words between languages. For example, the words “gank” and “ward” are used in both English and Korean.

On the other hand, it has not been revealed with which of the LCK organizations Gryffinn is currently doing the tryout with. However, he will likely join some academy team if the signing goes ahead. Let’s remember that he is a player who is only 16 years old and has little to no experience in the LoL competitive scene.

Gryffinn shows his talent

As we mentioned, Gryffinn is only 16 years old, but he has shown a lot of talent in the NA Challengers scene. A few weeks ago (in May, specifically), the 16-year-old jungler finished first in the NA Challenger with 1,852 LP. Moreover, this was achieved by the young prodigy at this point in his life, where he streams on Twitch every day and continues his studies full-time.

Speaking specifically about the Korean region, Gryffinn already reached the top rank within LoL, i.e., Grandmaster, and has a 68% winning percentage. As a result, the talent and capabilities of the 16-year-old jungler is completely undeniable.
