Every day that passes, new information comes to light about what the limited test of Counter-Strike 2 has left so far. In addition, Valve has taken on the task of constantly updating the game to correct errors now that they have feedback from the community that has access to the game.
Now, a topic that is very interesting and, above all, important is the hitbox in a game, especially if we are talking about FPS. While it is true that we all got used to the CS:GO hitbox after a long time playing it, now, with the arrival of Counter-Strike 2 in summer, all this will change. Moreover, according to the published information, the hitbox on the character’s head will increase by up to 20%, i.e., it would be much easier to hit a headshot in the game.
First of all, what is the hitbox?
The hitbox in a shooter game is the whole body (including the head) which can register the damage the character receives. That is to say, the more hitboxes a character has, the larger the area where he receives damage, so it is much easier to damage the opponents.
There is no doubt that this is a very important aspect for shooters like VALORANT and CS:GO, as it depends on it that a player can annihilate his rivals.
Several months ago, a controversy arose regarding CS:GO after discovering that the hitbox changed according to the character chosen in a game. This means there would be a certain imbalance in the games and, above all if they were in competitive mode.
I’ve always thought that @CSGO uses the same hitbox group for all player models, but turns out, there are some balance issues with it. In the image below you can see the difference between SAS and Professionals player models' head hitboxes. It turns out they differ by 16.75%

However, the same user who revealed this information several months ago, Ansimist, took the task of analyzing the CS2 hitbox.
CS2’s hitbox would increase considerably
Through a YouTube video published a few hours ago, Ansimist gave information regarding the hitbox that Counter-Strike 2 will have. Thanks to this, we can know some details that can be important in the game’s future.
According to Ansimit, the neck area of the CS:GO character decreased by 28.55%, while the head area increased by almost 20%. According to this user on Twitter and YouTube, giving headshots in the game would be much easier.
Here's what I found out about hitboxes in the new @CounterStrike
Now, all player models have the same hitboxes size. When comparing the head hitboxes from CS2 to CSGO, they've increased by 4-20% depending on the agent skin. pic.twitter.com/HZpGnhO049— Ansimist (@ansimist) April 4, 2023
In addition to the upper body changes to the characters, it is also noted that some parts, such as the feet and hands, also receive some improvement. The feet and hands of the characters are rectangular prisms in CS:GO, but in CS2 with the Source 2 engine, these would change to a capsule-shaped hitbox. As a result, it will be difficult for players to hit shots more easily in the hands and feet.
Now all hitboxes have a capsule shape. Previously, hitboxes for feet and hands were boxes.

Finally, we must emphasize that this data is provided by the user in charge of analyzing this type of data in the game. However, all this could change from now on and even at the time of the launch of Counter-Strike 2.
