The Challengers Stage of the BLAST.tv Paris Major is history, and Team GamerLegion, Monte Esports, and Team Liquid are the last three qualifiers for the Legends Stage. On the other hand, this leaves a bad taste in the mouth forZe, paiN, and Grayhound Gaiming, who say goodbye to the tournament after fighting until the last moment.

Team Liquid was one of the favorites to advance to the Legends Stage, but it wasn’t very easy in their matches against Apeks and forZe on the first day of the Paris Major. However, they bounced back and won three consecutive matches to seal qualification. Unfortunately, it was the same story for Team GamerLegion, who lost to COL and TheMongolz and then went down to the big three of MOUZ, OG, and forZe.

Finally, we have one of the best tournament news so far. Monte Esports, a team playing mostly tier 2 and even tier 3 tournaments, managed to qualify for the Legends Stage of the Paris Major with an excellent 2-1 win over paiN Gaming.

Team GamerLegion reaffirm their excellent form by beating forZe

Team GamerLegion scored an excellent 2-0 win over forZe to reaffirm their phenomenal form in this 2023 season. Thanks to this, the team qualified for the Legends Stage of the latest CS:GO Major.

This series between GL and forZe was played in Overpass (GL) and Inferno (forZe).

Overpass

Team GamerLegion started the series in their map pick, Overpass, where they showed a great individual level, especially Nicolas “Keoz” Dgus, who was in charge of shattering the defense of the Russian team. Everything started with a spectacular back-and-forth between these two teams until GamerLegion took control of the map to take a partial victory by 9-6 in the first half on the T side.

Then, at the change of sides, forZe started their offense very strong to win the first five rounds and get ahead on the scoreboard by 11-9. However, this woke up the German team, who, with Keoz playing a great game, managed to turn the score around and take the victory by 16-12.

Inferno

In Inferno, we had a really intense match similar to what happened in Overpass. Team GamerLegion started with a great level of play by Kamil “siuhy” Szkaradek, who, with 129.6 ADR and a 2.13 Rating, led his team to a partial victory by 11-4.

However, the Russian team woke up excellently thanks to some spectacular teamwork at changing sides. forZe managed to win eight of the first ten contested rounds, putting them 12-13 on the scoreboard. This, undoubtedly, pushed them to stay alive in the series and continue with the dream of qualifying for the Legends Stage.

However, Team GamerLegion had something else in the store. Thanks to an ACE from Isak “isak” Fahlén in an ECO round, they took the momentum needed to win the map 16-13 and seal qualification.

Monte apply reverse sweep against paiN to seal qualification

The Ukrainian team, Monte Esports, continues to give a lot to talk about with their excellent performances in the last tournaments they have played. In this match against paiN Gaming, we saw total determination and focus from the team, and we also had the privilege of seeing Viktor “sdy” Orudzhev, who once played for NaVi.

The series was played on Anubis (Monte), Nuke (paiN), and Mirage (decider).

Anubis

The series began on Anubis, a map on which Monte had been undefeated for the last few games played. In fact, according to HLTV, Monte is the best team in the world playing Anubis at the moment.

However, on this occasion, they came up against a paiN Gaming that undoubtedly displayed their best offense to take the victory with a 16-10. Monte did not have much to do on this map, and the Brazilians took advantage of every mistake; in addition, Rodrigo “biguzera” Bittencourt continues to demonstrate that his level of play is impressive.

Nuke

The paiN Gaming debacle started on their map pick, as the boys from Monte woke up and delivered a real 16-1 thrashing to even the series 1-1.

Sergiy “DemQQ” Demchenko and sdy took it upon themselves to lead Monte to victory in the second game of the series. They dealt a heavy blow to the Brazilians, who would ultimately be unable to recover. All Monte players finished with more than a 1.30 Rating on this map, but DemQQ was the leading scorer, finishing with 112.5 ADR and a 1.95 Rating.

Mirage

Finally, we saw a pitched battle between these two great teams in Mirage. paiN Gaming started their CT side very well by winning the first half with a close score of 8-7, with biguzera again as the team’s main scorer. However, when they switched sides, the Ukrainian team deployed a defense that was undoubtedly impenetrable for the Brazilian team.

After 11 rounds played in the second half, Monte managed to take the victory on the map by 16-10, thus sealing their qualification to the Legends Stage of the Paris Major.

Team Liquid crush Grayhound Gaming by 2-0

Finally, Team Liquid crushed GhG by a score of 16-9 on both maps to qualify for the Legends Stage of the Paris Major after being on the brink in three consecutive matches.

Anubis (Team Liquid) and Inferno (GhG) were the venues selected by these teams to play in this series.

Anubis

It all started at Anubis, Team Liquid’s map pick. The North American team showed great power in the hands of Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, who led his team to a comfortable victory with 108.8 ADR and a 1.56 Rating.

The first half was an absolute cakewalk for Team Liquid on their map pick, as they built a solid 11-4 lead. Then, in the second half, GhG tried to wake up on their T-side by winning five of the first seven rounds played. However, this was not enough, and they fell 9-16.

Inferno

Finally, the teams met in Inferno, GhG’s map pick. As in Anubis, Team Liquid was very focused in the first half, with a spectacular EliGE, accompanied by Keith “NAF” Markovic and Mareks “YEKINDAR” Gaļinskis, they built a solid 12-3 lead.

However, GhG tried to wake up on their CT side by winning the first two rounds, but returning from this result is only feasible if the teams manage to prevent the opponents from winning a round. In the end, Team Liquid won the remaining four rounds to take the 16-9 victory and secure their place in the Legends Stage of the Paris Major.
