The LEC Summer Split 2023 is now underway after several weeks of waiting due to player rest, and we have three teams that have started in the best possible way, Fnatic, MAD Lions, and Team Heretics.

There is no doubt that this is a very pleasant surprise, as the three teams we have mentioned have played a somewhat complicated 2023 season. While it is true that MAD Lions were the champions of the Spring Split, they were very close to being left out of the Group Stage of that same Split, as they had to play for advancement in a playoff game. At the same time, Team Heretics and Fnatic have played a disappointing 2023.

With the start of this new Split and their sights set on Worlds 2023, all the teams must put their best foot forward to win every day.

MAD Lions come from behind against G2 Esports to climb to the top of the table

Undoubtedly, the outstanding team of this second day of the LEC Summer Split were the reigning spring champions, MAD Lions. After achieving an extraordinary comeback against G2 Esports, the Spanish squad took all the plaudits.

First of all, it is worth noting that MAD Lions were on the brink in this match against G2. However, they managed to pull out their claws and their reigning champions’ tag to take the victory.

On the other hand, G2 came very close to taking the victory thanks to Rasmus “Caps” Winther with Neeko. However, the Danish player went from hero to villain after making bad decisions, which gave MAD Lions a big break. Finally, Javier “Elyoya” Prades was able to hold his team and, with a final lunge by Matyáš “Carzzy” Orság, they took the second win in two games played.

Team Heretics and Fnatic surprise and are co-leaders of the Split

As we mentioned, Team Heretics and Fnatic are having a spectacular start of Split, and the teams are determined to give their all to meet the expectations they have failed to meet so far. After two wins in two rounds, both Fnatic and Team Heretics become co-leaders alongside MAD Lions on the overall leaderboard of the LEC Summer Split 2023.

Fnatic had a duel against their British compatriots from EXCEL Esports, where we observed an incredible level of play from Ivan “Razork” Martin. This also shows that EXCEL still can’t find a way to perform well at the top competitive level of the LEC. In addition, it is worth noting the actions of Fnatic’s new signing, Oh “Noah” Hyeon-taek, who finished the match against EXCEL with an 11/0/5 with Aphelios and was the only player who did not die in this match.

On the other hand, we have Team Heretics gave, once again, a real lecture in Summoner’s Rift by beating Astralis and placing themselves at the top of the table with a 2-0 record. There is no doubt that their new signings, Vincent “Vetheo” Berrié and Victor “Flakked” Lirola, are in great shape, and, thanks to them, the team has started this Summer Split on the right foot.

Finally, we have G2 Esports, KOI, Team BDS, and Team Vitality have 1-1 records, while, Astralis, EXCEL Esports, and SK Gaming fell in their two matches played.
