FaZe Clan was crowned champion of the first tournament in the CS2 era, the IEM Sydney 2023, and with it, the community has realized that the level of experienced players seems to be at its highest.

While it’s true that all FaZe members deserved the tournament MVP, it fell to Robin “ropz” Koo. However, the rest of the players, especially Finn “karrigan” Andersen and Håvard “rain” Nygaard, played their best, proving that the new game perfectly fit experienced players.

Rain proves that he still has a lot to contribute to FaZe Clan

The FaZe Clan tournament wasn’t perfect; that much is more than clear. However, after a shaky first few games, the team managed to find a way to qualify for the playoffs and eventually become champions of IEM Sydney 2023.

Rain, one of the team’s veterans, showed his full potential throughout the tournament, which ended with a 1.20 Rating, according to HLTV. In addition, the 29-year-old Norwegian led FaZe Clan in their excellent victory in the Grand Final against Complexity, especially in the third map, which had to be defined through Overtime.

As we saw in the Grand Final, rain lived up to expectations, carrying FaZe Clan when the team was not at its best. Also, it is fair to mention that he always did it with the coolness and concentration that has characterized him throughout his career.

FaZe went from strength to strength in the IEM Sydney

The start of the tournament for FaZe was worrying, as the team lost in their first match in Overtime against GamerLegion. However, from that moment on, the team started to turn their situation around to the point where they beat NaVi Team Vitality and finally took revenge on GamerLegion.

Then, they had a much better performance in the playoffs, as they did not concede a single map. Let’s remember that they beat ENCE in the semifinals with a score of 2-0, making it the first 13-0 in the history of CS2.

With the win at IEM Sydney 2023, FaZe Clan looks to be a solid team heading into the start of the CS2 era. In addition, the team will arrive at Thunderpick World Championship 2023 with morale high.

Likewise, it is worth mentioning that, in the last few hours, several rumors have surfaced about the possible departure of some players from the squad. However, this is not completely confirmed, so we await what may happen.
