FaZe Clan defeated Ninjas in Pyjamas in yesterday’s first quarter-finals match of the PGL Major Antwerp 2022. Despite NiP putting forth a spectacular performance, FaZe won the series 2-1 with an incredible comeback on the final map.
The fierce battle between two CS:GO powerhouse teams commenced on Nuke. At first, NiP secured five consecutive rounds to gain an early lead on the CT side. However, FaZe rebounded quickly and won a total of six rounds. NiP then recovered the lead after winning four more rounds, bringing the first-half score to 9-6.
In the second half, FaZe completely turned the tables and quickly recovered the lead. NiP were only able to win one more round, as their opponents controlled the rest of the match. The second half on Overpass began with FaZe extending their lead to 9-7. FaZe appeared to be cruising to another win before NiP’s Hampus “hampus” Poser and Ludvig “Brollan” Brolin stepped in and changed the course of the match. With relentless counterattacks, Hempus and Brollan annihilated FaZe’s defenses, winning the map 16-13. They finished the map with a KDA of 30/17/4 and 28/20/5, respectively.
FaZe advances to semi-finals
This thrilling best-of-three map series went down to the final and deciding map, Inferno. NiP continued to dominate and took a commanding, 8-3 lead, putting the pressure back on FaZe. FaZe answered with another stunning comeback, this time much more lethal than the last one. They won 13 rounds straight without losing a single round to close the map 16-8. FaZe’s Helvijs “broky” Saukants and Robin “ropz” Kool combined for 47 kills to aid the squad move from being 8-3 to winning 16-8.
