FaZe Clan win their group at BLAST Premier Spring Groups

FaZe Clan entered BLAST Premier Spring Groups as the second-best team in the tournament. But because the four groups are independent of each other, they were regarded as the clear favorite to win group B and qualify directly for BLAST Premier: Spring Final. And they didn’t disappoint.

However, they did struggle a lot more than we expected. Their first match was an absolute disappointment. Despite facing a much weaker opponent, they lost 2 – 0. GamerLegion defeated them 13 – 11, 16 – 13. And not because they played poorly. With the exception of frozen, who struggled a bit and finished with a personal score of 26 – 34, everyone played reasonably well.

But on GamerLegion’s side, several players who performed extremely well. Snax, volt, and acoR had many impressive rounds.

FaZe Clan’s road to victory

After this first defeat, FaZe had to win three consecutive matches to qualify for BLAST Premier Spring Final.

Their first lower bracket opponent was Team Spirit. The match was a complete stomp: 13 – 4 on Anubis and 13 – 4 on Nuke. Frozen played incredibly well and erased the memory of the first match with a 42 – 18 / 2.02 performance that left everyone speechless.

In their next match, FaZe took revenge for the upper bracket defeat against GamerLegion. The scores were 5 – 13 (Ancient), 16 – 12 (Overpass), and 5 – 13 (Inferno). It’s clear that karrigan’s team learned a lot from the first match and was determined to not repeat the same mistakes.

The strongest player on the server was ropz, who finished the match with a personal score of 54 – 35 / 1.42. Everything about his performance was delightful to watch.

In the Grand Final, FaZe had to play against a very strong Team Liquid. The scores speak for themselves: 11 – 13 on Nuke and 9 – 13 on Mirage.

Twistzz played well and finished the match with a score of 38 – 33. But most of his teammates were not at the same level. And they had to be to win against such a strong opponent. Skullz had the worst performance (23 – 37), but NAF also played poorly (24 – 34). It’s quite surprising that FaZe lost so many rounds when Liquid had two players who contributed very little to the effort.

For FaZe, the man who carried the team was ropz, but rain had the best rating 2.0 thanks to his overall stats.
