Despite the fact that Wild Rift Icons Championship concluded only recently, Riot Games has announced a new off-season Wild Rift competition. The Wild Circuit 2022 will cover eight competitive regions, namely Brazil, China, LATAM, North America and South-East Asia/Korea/Japan.

League of Legends: Wild Rift is a mobile version of the famous PC title that is especially popular in Asian countries. The game has its own esports ecosystem with major tournaments like Icons Global Championship 2022 which boasted a $2,000,000 prize pool.

Now, Riot Games has decided to expand the series with a new off-season tournament to keep the players in shape and entertain the viewers, who will now be able to watch the competitive Wild Rift scene throughout the whole year.

Wild Circuit schedule and format

The Wild Circuit will feature eight competitive regions to allow teams of all skill levels to show their capacities and train for the second season of the official league. Each region will cooperate with third-party tournament organizers to host Wild Circuit events, which are scheduled to run between July 18 – October 23. The organizers first need to get approval from Riot Games and after that, they will receive a prize pool and support in operations.

Riot Games also shared the schedule for the Wild Circuit 2022. Qualifiers in multiple regions have already started and it should be noted that while some areas will have direct qualifications under the Wild Circuit ta, some will host separate tournaments under particular organizer brands.

Brazil

  • July 21 – Wild Circuit Qualifiers 1
  • August 11 – Wild Circuit Qualifiers 2
  • August 18 – Wild Circuit Qualifiers 3
  • September/October – Wild Circuit Series

China

  • July 29 – Snapdragon Pro Series
  • August 1 – Huya The Legend Cup
  • August 2 – Douyu Wild Rift Master Series
  • August 19 – Weibo Cup

LATAM

  • August – Movistar Super Series: Wild Rift
  • August – Movistar Stars Cup
  • August – ESL Play Americas
  • August – The Thunder Rift
  • August – Leyendas Salvajes Wild Rift
  • September – Wild Rift Mayor League

North America

  • July 29 – Wild Circuit Series – North America
  • September 23 – Rift MSTRS Wild Rift

SEA/Korea/Japan

  • September/October – Wild Circuit Asia Invitational 2022

As we can see, there’s no schedule for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, so we can assume that there are no competitive tournaments for these regions. However, there’s a chance that regional organizers will reach out to Riot in order to host a Wild Circuit competition in EMEA. There are some EMEA squads like Rix.GG and Team Queso who even entered the Icons Global Championship 2022, so it’s quite strange to see the absence of off-season competitions in the region while others are in full swing.
