The playoffs of Elite League started with four matches. In this article, I will take a look at the results and what they tell us about the teams.

Team Falcons vs. Xtreme Gaming: 2 – 0

Falcons used one of their favorite strategies in this match. In fact, they did it twice but with some variations. They gave Malr1ne and ATF one of their best heroes, Razor, and built everything around that. They also baited their opponents into thinking that ATF would be the one to play Razor in game 1, and then gave him Slardar instead.

Both times, Falcons’ strategy revolved around physical damage and outscaling the opponent. In game 1, they needed just 32 minutes to win. But game 2 lasted for almost one hour.

This result shows us that the MENA squad is just as good as before. At the very least, we should expect them to qualify for the Grand Final.

Team Liquid vs. Azure Ray: 1 – 2

Liquid lost game 1 against Azure Ray. It happened slowly at first, but then the networth difference started to grow rapidly. What’s worse is that there wasn’t a single moment in which Liquid had the lead. Their Dragon Knight plus Luna combo did not work as intended.

In game 2, they picked Leshrac and went with Batrider one more time for initiation. Despite facing a scary hero composition (Io, Tiny, Zeus, Anti-Mage, and Viper), they triumphed in 48 minutes.

In the third game, Azure Ray won again thanks to a deadly combo: Faceless Void, Sniper, and Elder Titan. Every time there was a Chronosphere, Azure were hard to stop. Meanwhile, Liquid picked some really questionable heroes: Zeus, Vengeful Spirit, Clockwerk, Dark Seer, and Pudge. Without a proper carry, it’s amazing that they lasted for 53 minutes.

G2.iG vs. Gaimin Gladiators: 0 – 2

G2.iG had no chance against Gladiators. They tried a Techies strategy both times, but the games ended in less than 40 minutes. The Europeans picked Chaos Knight and Batrider in both games. These are very stable heroes that allow teams to play relaxed, knowing that they will easily win in a late-game scenario.

Tundra Esports vs. PSG Quest: 0 – 2

Tundra were supposed to win this match but PSG Quest proved to be a lot stronger than anticipated. Game 1 ended in 56 minutes and was a battle between Drow and Luna. Tundra had very strange heroes and couldn’t make them work in the late game.

In game 2, PSG played even better and ended the fight in just 37 minutes. Their Io plus Gyrocopter was deadly, especially after Gyro became equipped with a Divine Rapier.
