The arrival of CS2 is creating great expectation in all community members, as we are just a few hours away from the official start of the first Level 1 tournament in the Counter-Strike 2 era.

All the teams are working very hard to start in the best possible way, and there is no doubt that one of them is Astralis. After dominating the CS:GO competitive scene for several years, the Danish squad fell into a slump from which they have had difficulty getting out. However, a few hours ago, they announced the contract extension of their main star, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz.

Whether you are a newcomer or a veteran in the Counter-Strike competitive scene, it is impossible for you not to know who dev1ce is and everything he has done for CS throughout his career. That’s why the organization and the experienced player are ready to work hand in hand, at least until the end of 2026.

Astralis announces dev1ce’s contract extension

Through a statement on its official Twitter/X account, Astralis announced the contract extension of its main star, dev1ce, until the end of 2026.

In the official statement from Astralis, dev1ce stated that this organization is his home, his team, and his love. He mentions leaving his skin on every round, map, and match to bring Astralis back to the top of the Counter-Strike 2 competitive scene.

On the other hand, dev1ce said that Astralis has always been his second home, and, at the moment, there seems to be a lot of optimism among all the players. In addition, the 28-year-old Dane also mentioned that the team deserves to be where it is “fun to play,” i.e., at the top.

About dev1ce

As mentioned, dev1ce has no introduction, as their level of play and experience says it all. However, the highest point of their career came in those years (2017-2019), when the Danish super squad of Astralis completely dominated the CS:GO competitive scene.

Dev1ce and Astralis won 4 Majors, plus many more Tier 1 tournaments during that period.

However, during his professional career, dev1ce had to make some drastic decisions to give his career a new direction. As a result, the Dane played for almost two seasons for NiP. Although he had a “sabbatical year” in 2022 due to various health problems. Finally, dev1ce returned home to Astralis at the end of 2022, and this year, the team’s most notable achievement was qualifying for the IEM Cologne 2023 playoffs.

Now, if dev1ce maintains that great level and leads Astralis into the beginning of the CS2 era, the team may be a force to be reckoned with in Tier 1. Moreover, it makes sense that the organization decided to make that move as the first major event to be played in CS2.
