Our beloved Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to break records for the number of simultaneous players in the game. Of course, the game has had some dips in popularity in its 11 years, but last weekend it reached the figure of 1.4 million players connected simultaneously.

This new record comes less than a month after Valve’s shooter broke its peak with 1,354,248 simultaneous players, now surpassed by an incredible 1,420,183.

CS:GO breaks its record for simultaneous online players

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive continues to prove that, despite being 11 years old on the esports scene, it still has a solid and, above all, loyal player base. According to the official CS:GO Twitter account and data thrown by Steamdb, last March 11, an incredible 1,420,183 simultaneous players were reached in the game.

In addition, we can highlight that the game only dropped half a million simultaneous players below during the whole week. So, there is no doubt that the interest in CS:GO remains latent in the game’s community. But, there is a possibility that this peak has been generated by the growing rumors that have been heard and read regarding a new installment of Valve’s shooter, Counter-Strike 2.

On the other hand, we can also note that, although this figure was not repeated during the following days, in Steamdb, we can observe that the number of players connected simultaneously in CS:GO ranges between 526K and 1.25M. There is no doubt that these figures are not all bad either, and this shows the loyalty and commitment of the community.

Is Counter-Strike 2 supposedly to blame for this record?

While Valve has confirmed absolutely nothing regarding the rumors that have been buzzing in recent weeks with the possible Counter-Strike 2, neither has it taken it upon itself to deny them. On the other hand, some recent leaks indicate that the new installment of the game would be closer than ever and place the date as late March and early April.

We can also highlight that many professional gamers and different organizations through social networks have been wetting themselves with the subject. Some of them make supposed speculations for what seems to be something already confirmed. In addition, in the last few days, we could see how Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken and Dzhami “Jame” Ali also gave their opinions in live broadcasts.

Future of CS:GO

In addition to what we mentioned above, there is speculation that the supposed Counter-Strike 2, based on the Source 2 engine, will change the game. For example, some improvements in graphic quality, renewal of maps, changes in some weapons, and much more.

Likewise, we will be attentive to any information that comes out, whether it is official, a leak, or simply opinions regarding it, and we will keep you informed about it.
