Astralis signs Gla1ve, again! Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander has re-signed a contract with Astralis, staying with the Danish organization for another 3 years. Gla1ve has been playing for Astralis since October 2016, filling in for Finn “karrigan” Andersen at the time.

Recently there has been a lot of speculation if the 26-year-old would move to another team or if he would stay with Astralis. His contract would have expired at the end of the year, giving him the chance to go to another organization. Gla1ve was essential to the team’s success. In 2018, he won ten international titles with Astralis, including the FACEIT Major, and the first edition of the Intel Grand Slam. He was named the eighth best player worldwide that year. So it is of course a big win for Astralis that the Dane decided to play for his old team again.

Gla1ve knew exactly what he wanted

Apparently gla1ve didn’t have to think too long, because although he briefly considered switching to another team, he said that “he is Astralis at heart and feels at home here”. Gla1ve and his girlfriend are expecting their first child later this year and that apparently also contributed to his decision to stay with Astralis.

“My girlfriend and I are expecting our first child this year and knowing that I will be met with understanding and flexibility then means a lot to me. I feel really good about this extension and look forward to the years ahead. I’m sure we’ll have many opportunities to celebrate new titles with our fans.”

It also remains exciting to see who will be the next coach for Astralis. Danny “zonic” Sørensen is currently still the coach of the Danish organization, but it seems he will no longer be with Astralis after his contract expires. Instead, Nicolai “HUNDEN” Petersen is a hot candidate for the position. You can see gla1ve and his team live in action again in mid-August during ESL Pro League Season 14.
