The CS:GO community is still waiting for the official release date of CS2, as neither players nor Valve have given any clues about it. However, we have heard different rumors about possible release dates in the last few days.

Some point to the next few weeks, others to September 2023. But, one of the most popular CS:GO content creators, Owen “smooya” Butterfield, claims that CS2 will be released in October.

Different personalities within the CS:GO competitive scene have also handled this information. Several days ago, there was also talk that Counter-Strike 2 would arrive in October 2023, not July, as others claim. However, these are just speculations, as Valve has not given a hint about the official arrival of the expected CS2.

Smooya claims that CS2 will arrive in October 2023

Former professional CS:GO player and now content creator smooya has given the scoop that the worldwide release of CS2 will be in October. According to smooya, a former Fnatic and BIG AWPer, some reliable sources confirmed that Valve wants to release CS2 right after ESL Pro League S18 ends.

As we note, smooya gave this scoop in one of the latest episodes of the podcast called HLTV Confirmed, published weekly by HLTV.org. In the episode, we also see the presence of three really important people within the scene, the host and former professional CS:GO player Chad “SPUNJ” Burchill. In addition, there were also Zvonimir “Professeur” Burazin and Milan “Striker” Švejda, two very important assets within HLTV.

Striker, editor-in-chief at HLTV, confirmed that he also heard rumors regarding the information that smooya released. In addition, Striker also assured that, in October, it would be seven months since the CS2 beta was launched, which is more than enough time to test and fix bugs in preparation for the game’s global release.

Valve and their characteristic silence

While it is true that there have always been many rumors about the new Counter-Strike release, Valve has remained silent for a long time, something that has characterized them throughout history. Except for different updates or official announcements, Valve keeps secret all the information regarding the official launch of CS2.

Remember that Counter-Strike 2 has been in its closed beta phase since last March 22, 2023, and Valve has only given access to very few players by progressively revealing some features.

The video above shows that players can only play Mirage in CS2 in this closed beta. However, that changed last June 6 since the only map that could be played since March was Dust 2.

If the game arrives in October 2023, as smooya points out, we expect it to come loaded with many maps, new game modes, and different features that will undoubtedly make players’ quality of life a whole lot better.
