After a failed attempt at Worlds 2023, everything seems to indicate that Team BDS will start changing its lineup for the upcoming LEC season. However, these changes have some rumors that are undoubtedly completely unexpected, considering that important names are mentioned.

We are talking about the fact that the Swiss organization seems to plan to drop their superstar, Juš “Crownie” Marušič, when the League of Legends offseason starts. As we mentioned, this is interesting and unexpected, as Crownie has been the mainstay of the Team BDS lineup for several years.

Reports claim that Crownie will leave Team BDS this offseason

According to Brieuc Seeger, the esports journalist better known as LEC Wooloo, Crownie will not be playing with Team BDS in LEC 2024.

In addition to being surprised by the simple fact that Crownie is the mainstay of the Team BDS squad, this news comes to light after, several months ago, the player extended his contract with the team. As a result, if this move is confirmed, it could be one of the most surprising moves of this 2023 offseason.

In 2023, Team BDS had many ups and downs, but they still managed to take a step forward to be at the top of the LEC, fighting in the Spring Split Grand Final against the MAD Lions. Then, the team could not have the same success in the Summer Split, as they had many problems in matches that were a little “easier” by the level of play.

However, thanks to their accumulated points, they managed to qualify for the match against Golden Guardians of the LCS for the last place in Worlds 2023. As we know, Team BDS defeated the NA team and got their ticket to the Swiss Stage of the tournament.

LEC’s joy was short-lived at Worlds 2023

With the qualification of Team BDS to Worlds 2023, the LEC had 4 representatives in the tournament, so the fans’ expectations were really high.

However, the joy lasted only a few days, as Team BDS ended their participation after losing their 3 matches against JD Gaming, Dplus KIA, and MAD Lions.

On the other hand, speaking of Crownie, we have that the 25-year-old Slovenian would have to look for a new home for next season, either in the LEC or in the LCS. It may not be very complicated to do so, as he is an experienced and talented player who has been part of great teams in recent years.

Likewise, there is still a lack of official confirmation from Team BDS and Crownie himself, although the player shared a post on his Twitter/X account that seems to confirm this news.
