NRG, one of the most popular organizations in North America, has added Alan “ethos” Ruan as the sixth player to its VALORANT lineup, according to Global Contract Database.

This move comes after the organization released Zander “thwifo” Kim on March 13 after a short stint. So now, we will have to wait for the team to officially announce the incorporation of Ethos to the team’s roster for the VCT Americas, which starts in a few weeks.

Ethos joins NRG’s VALORANT roster as a replacement

While the organization has not confirmed the news, the Global Contract Database, the database where Riot Games publishes the contracts of players and their teams, shows that NRG has signed Ethos as a replacement.

Ethos was already part of the organization, as he is one of today’s most popular VALORANT content creators. According to Twitch Tracker, he boasts more than 8.99 million views on Twitch.

Ethos steps into the vacant position left by thwifo’s departure on March 13, 2023. Thwifo noted that it was a short time within NRG but that he learned a lot from the players and management. On the other hand, he noted that recent layoffs in esports organizations “suck” and pointed out that he is ready to come back stronger than ever.

About Ethos

While Ethos is currently in VALORANT’s highest rank and rubs shoulders with the best in the ranked queue, the player doesn’t have much competitive experience. However, as mentioned, the player was 100% dedicated to content creation, and this will be ethos’ first foray into the competitive scene.

However, Ethos attempted to qualify for the NACL by playing under the Skwirel Warrires banner. As a result, the team qualified in the top 32 by adding certain wins. However, they could not advance far enough in the Lower Bracket and fell to HAppy2bHere. Ethos, meanwhile, was Skwirel Warrires’ best player, averaging an ADR of 174.

The problem is that Ethos has not competed in VALORANT’s top tier, which will undoubtedly condition his appearances in VCT Americas matches. In addition, NRG has a truly fearsome lineup with very talented and, above all, experienced players, something ethos does not possess, professionally speaking.

It cannot be ruled out that Ethos will participate in some of NRG’s games in the VCT Americas since, as a substitute, he will have to play if one of his teammates cannot do so. On the other hand, the player may have enough experience within the servers since his day-to-day is within VALORANT.

As we mentioned, NRG will play the VCT Americas that will start in approximately two weeks, and the team has to reveal its entire lineup in the next few days.
