CDL Forbids Twitch watch parties of ZooMaa and Scump

In the CoD world, a recent development is causing a lot of talk. Some prominent personalities such as Thomas “ZooMaa” Paparatto and Seth “Scump” Abner were unable to hold their usual Call of Duty League watch parties on Twitch. This year, all fans will have to stick to YouTube if they want to follow the League.

The Call of Duty League has had some technical difficulties this season, especially after the broadcasts moved to YouTube – exclusively. The league has announced that it will no longer stream simultaneously on Twitch and YouTube, but has instead negotiated a new exclusive deal with only YouTube for the remainder of the season.

The Call of Duty League (CDL) has stopped broadcasting viewing parties on Twitch. Due to broadcasting rights, no CDL content may be streamed on Twitch, even in the form of watch parties.

The change also affects events such as “The Breakdown” and “The Flank”, where ZooMaa and Scump analyze and discuss the games together with Anthony “Methodz” Zinni. Apparently, the exclusive broadcast of the Call of Duty League on YouTube for the 2024 season is behind this decision.

ZooMaa and Scump want to find a solution

ZooMaa, known for its presence on Twitch, is facing a challenge: the prohibition of the use of CDL game scenes on its platform. The CDL sets out clear guidelines that restrict the viewing and analysis of its content quite massively.

ZooMaa knows that he is severely restricted by this. He has criticized YouTube for not offering an attractive alternative. He has been active in the Twitch community for a long time and wants to remain so. So far, ZooMaa will remain on Twitch despite the changes.

Meanwhile, Scump is also discussing the situation and looking for a solution.

Problems with the switch to YouTube

After the switch from Twitch to YouTube, the viewership has changed. Especially after the CDL broke a viewership record on Twitch during Major 3 in the 2022-2023 season, many fans were disappointed. The first two games of the season on YouTube had a lot of technical issues and spoiled the fun for some viewers.

There were plenty of technical difficulties, but the match between the Los Angeles Thieves and Seattle Surge was particularly plagued.

As usual, the crowd had expected an easy ride and a smooth broadcast, but there were hitches at every turn. The player cameras didn’t show the correct names and the scoreboard reflected the same player twice. One player was kicked out of the game and replaced by a referee account. No wonder that many fans were disappointed after the matches and the switch to YouTube was viewed rather negatively.
