Call of Duty League has revealed that its season-concluding Championship Weekend 2022 will take place from August 4 to 7 at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, California.

The event will see eight of the 12 CDL franchised teams fighting for the title of CDL 2022 Champions. The last chance to qualify for the highest Call of Duty competition is the NY Subliners Major IV, set to run between July 14 and 17 in Kings Theatre, New York.

Championship Weekend

Compared to the 2021 Champs event, some changes have been made to the 2022 Playoffs and Champs format.  More specifically, all eight teams will start in the first Winner’s Round, rather than giving the top-seeded teams the advantage of bye rounds and sending the bottom seeds to Losers Bracket. The 2022 CDL Championships prize pool is yet to be announced.

The CDL Championship 2021 title was taken by Atlanta FaZe after defeating Toronto Ultra 5-3 in the Grand Final series. Out of the $2,500,000 prize pool, they took home the lion’s share of $1,200,000. The team finished second in all three CDL Majors of the 2022 season, so their chances to advance to the finals in order to defend their title on Championship Sunday are high.

Challenger Finals

The 2022 Championship Weekend will also host the conclusion of CDL’s amateur Challenger league. The CDL’s first Global Challenger Finals event will see eight teams battling for $250,000 in prize money in a two-day double-elimination series. Challenger teams can qualify either via Global Challengers Leaderboard or via regional qualifiers for Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific.

Los Angeles — Home of CDL Championships

Taking place in LA, the CDL Championship is returning to the City of Angels for the third time since 2019, except for the 2020 season which was disrupted by the global pandemic. Even though Champs didn’t take place that year, LA still hosted multiple CDL events in 2020.

Similarly to last year, the event will take place at the Galen Center in Los Angeles, a multipurpose arena owned and operated by the University of Southern California. The capacity of the 255,000 square feet facility is over 10,000 visitors.

The presale for the Championship Weekend 2022 starts on Monday, June 27, 8 pm CEST, while the rest of the tickets will be available starting on Thursday, June 30 at 4 pm CEST. Those fans who look to buy early tickets need to sign up for the CDL Newsletter, as it is the only way how to get access to the presale.
