Week 2 of the online qualifiers for the last Major of the 2023 CDL season, Major V, is underway, and Boston Breach, LA Guerrillas, and Atlanta FaZe shined with three resounding victories.

All the teams know this is the last chance to earn CDL Points, allowing them to be better placed in the table. Let’s remember that the invited teams (eight in total) for the CDL Championship 2023 will be the ones that are better placed in the standings. In addition, the teams can score points in these online qualifiers, so each match becomes much more important.

London Royal Ravens and Las Vegas Legion both suffered their second loss of the tournament and need to wake up as soon as possible, as they are two of the teams at the bottom of the overall CDL standings. On the other hand, without playing and after the results of this first day of Week 2, the NY Subliners secured their place in the CDL Championship 2023.

LA Guerrillas get their first win of the tournament against London Royal Ravens

The Californian team came into this Week 2 of the online Major V qualifiers with a 0-2 record, and, to keep their hopes of qualifying for the CDL Championship 2023 alive, they must score the most points from here on out. The team did not disappoint and ended with an excellent 3-1 win over London Royal Ravens.

Joseph “JoeDeceives” Romero was the MVP of the series, as the Guerrillas player had an impressive K/D Ratio of +1.46 in the entire series.

The game started at Al Bagra Fortress (Hardpoint), with LA Guerrillas and JoeDeceives at their best possible level. Unfortunately, the Ravens couldn’t do much in this first game and fell 152-250.

Then, in the second map, everything changed. London Royal Ravens could react to hit back, also in Al Bagra Fortress but in Search&Destroy. Although the Guerrillas tried to stay in the game, they could not, and the British team took the victory by 6-3.

Finally, at Himmelmatt Expo (Control) and Breenbergh Hotel (Hardpoint), LA Guerrillas finished the series with 3-2 and 250-104 victories, respectively.

Boston Breach get clean sweep against Florida Mutineers

The second game of the day left us with a spectacular Boston Breach, where all the team members showed great play and achieved a clean sweep against the Mutineers by 3-0.

The series started evenly matched, as the Mutineers came close to winning at Zarqwa Hydroelectric (Hardpoint). However, Boston Breach maintained control of the map and ended with a close 250-232 victory. Then, on the second Embassy map (Search&Destroy), we also had a close match, but with the same result. Boston could win each duel against Florida and took the victory by 6-4 to put this series in check.

Finally, Breenbergh Hotel (Control) was the stage for the Breach to take a comfortable 3-1 win and climb to the top of the standings (momentarily) in this tournament.

Atlanta FaZe crush Las Vegas Legion with a resounding 3-0 win

Atlanta FaZe, like the Breach, scored a crushing 3-0 victory over Las Vegas Legion to move to the top of the standings with a 2-1 record. For their part, Las Vegas Legion suffered their second tournament loss, and their possible participation in the CDL Championship 2023 is seriously jeopardized.

Unlike the day’s second match, Atlanta FaZe gave no quarter to Las Vegas Legion, and they managed three resounding victories.

On the first map, Breenbergh Hotel (Hardpoint), Atlanta FaZe started with an impressive explosiveness by Chris “Simp” Lehr, which allowed them to take the victory by 250-144. Then, at Mercado Las Almas (Search&Destroy), the story was the same, but with a new protagonist, Austin “SlasheR” Liddicoat, who wreaked havoc on the Las Vegas Legion boys to lead FaZe to a comfortable 6-1 victory.

Finally, El Asilo (Control) was the stage for Atlanta FaZe to take the 3-2 win after a very intense and evenly matched battle to move into fourth place in the standings with a 2-1 record.
