While it is true that Spanish fans, especially LEC fans, were excited to see MAD Lions start their match against T1 very well, on the third day of MSI, we saw a spectacular comeback by the South Korean team to break a new record by taking a big win.

MAD Lions started very strong and inspired against T1. However, the South Korean team returned, won the game, and set a new record for game completion time.

T1 breaks the record for the fastest game at MSI 2023

MAD Lions started with an incredible lead of 7,000 gold in the first 15 minutes of the first match. There is no doubt that both T1 and the fans were surprised by this feat on the part of the Spanish team, as they usually have this early lead.

However, this only awakened the inner beast in each of the T1 players. They could recover easily as MAD Lions made some extremely enthusiastic plays that left them at the mercy of this powerful team.

After returning to the game with a spectacular Lee “Gumayusi” Min-hyeong, T1 won excellently as they dominated MAD Lions in every matchup in Summoner’s Rift.

While in the first 15 minutes of the series, T1 was missing, they woke up, and the story turned 180°. MAD Lions was completely dominated by every T1 player, including the “Demon King” and Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok, who showed incredible versatility in the mid-lane to crush all the Spanish players.

MAD Lions went down

After having a great start to the series and then being crushed by T1, MAD Lions completely fell apart in the second game. The Spanish team lost the confidence they had shown and started making some individual plays that no fan understood. As a result, MAD Lions had a lot of mistakes, and T1, as a great and experienced team, took advantage of it to make the series 2-0.

Ultimately, T1 made history by breaking a record and placing second in the fastest matches in an international LoL tournament. Thanks to a phenomenal performance by Gumayusi, Faker, and the rest of their teammates, T1 beat MAD Lions in 16 minutes and 50 seconds.

As we mentioned, this victory is the second fastest in the history of an international LoL tournament, as the first came at MSI 2019, when Invictus Gaming crushed SKT in 16 minutes and one second.

As a result of this defeat, MAD Lions will have to play for their lives against a more than familiar opponent, G2 Esports, who fell 1-3 to Gen.G Esports in the quarterfinals of the Upper Bracket. On the other hand, T1 will have their revenge against Gen.G after they won the Grand Final of the LCK Spring Split 2023.
