The third group of this ESL Pro League S17 has ended. After enjoying some genuinely spectacular CS:GO matches the previous two weeks, Group C was, honestly, a bit tricky to assimilate. Despite this, two of the favorite teams made it through and lived up to expectations, while the Brazilians, paiN Gaming and 00 Nation, left two powerhouses like OG and NiP in their wake.

Team Vitality leads Group C after a spectacular comeback

Team Vitality reaffirmed its status as a favorite and took first place in the group by beating FaZe Clan in the grand finale. Audric “JACKZ” Jug had an outstanding performance despite his late arrival to the team to replace Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen. However, Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut carried Team Vitality in this Group C Grand Final match, as the Frenchman finished with 90 ADR and a 1.40 rating.

First, it should be noted that both maps played, Anubis and Nuke, were defined in Overtime, but what happened in the first match was spectacular.

FaZe Clan, with Helvijs “broky” Saukants (93.5 ADR and 1.88 Rating) really on fire, managed to win the first half with a crushing score of 14-1, leaving ZywOo and Team Vitality on the ropes. But that’s not what was so impressive about this match, as the French returned with an extraordinary 14-1 turnaround to force Overtime. In the end, Team Vitality took the victory with a score of 19-16.

In Nuke, Team Vitality started with tremendous momentum on the CT side to take an 11-4 partial victory in the first half. However, this time it was FaZe who reacted to equalize the actions 15-15 and send them to Overtime. In the end, Team Vitality prevailed again in Overtime and took the 19-15 victory to take first place in the group and a direct berth to the quarterfinals of the ESL Pro League S17.

NiP and OG disappoint in ESL Pro League S17

The tournament’s third day was marked by the surprise of paiN Gaming and Grayhound defeating NiP and OG Esports. However, we must emphasize that paiN and Grayhound’s lineups are far inferior to the European teams.

This relegation to the Lower Bracket resulted in NiP facing OG in an elimination match that was not in anyone’s plans, sending home a team that doesn’t quite work without Nemanja “nexa” Isaković in the lineup.

In the Mid Bracket, paiN Gaming reaffirmed their high level by beating Grayhound in the final to secure their ticket to the EPL S17 playoffs. However, at the same time, NiP had

At this point came the second big upset of the group, when the Brazilians could come from behind against NiP to knock them out of the tournament. A spectacular tournament for Kristian “k0nfig” Wienecke, who tried to carry NiP to the end but could not overcome 00 Nation.

The Brazilians reached this point after a remarkable victory over Grayhound in the semifinals of the Lower Bracket, with a score of 2-1 (Inferno 16-19, Ancient 16-10, and Mirage 9-16).
