Last week, Cloud9 benched one of its most valuable players. After a lot of inconsistent performances and poor results, sh1ro decided to leave the roster. We don’t know who will take his place but Boombl4 got invited to be the team’s IGL for the ongoing, $500.000 tournament, Thunderpick World Championship.

As a player, Boombl4 is well known for his time in Natus Vincere. Unfortunately for him, things didn’t end well there. But not because of his lack of skill. If anything, he was one of the main contributors to Na’Vi’s first and only Major win. As the team’s IGL, he was responsible for a lot of things and proved to be quite good at this role.

Then, following the very public scandal between himself and his former wife, he was left with limited options because nobody wanted to tarnish their reputation by bringing him in. But as time went on, people started to forget the whole thing and 1win took a risk in February 2023.

Since then, Boombl4’s been doing well, winning several A-tier tournaments and proving himself. Fast-forward to October 2023 and important organizations are now starting to be interested in him again. This makes perfect sense, given his professional track record.

Sure, he might be a peculiar player to have on your roster, but who cares when he brings so much value to the team?

Cloud9’s situation

C9 have had a rough year with only a handful of notable accomplishments. They finished 2nd at ESL Pro League S17, won BetBoom Playlist Urbanistic, then went on to win Brazy Party, and had a series of top eight results at big events like IEM Dallas, BLAST Premier Spring Final, Gamers 8, and IEM Cologne.

All things considered, these results were fairly promising. But for some reason, sh1ro lost his patience and forced a roster change.

After Boombl4 was brought in just days ago, C9 went on to win their group at Thunderpick World Championship. And we’re talking about a group full of world-class teams such as Virtus.pro, Fnatic, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Beating both Fnatic and VP so soon after a roster change is quite a feat.

These results prove that Boombl4 is a highly talented player. At just 24 years old, he’s already won around $1.1 million from tournaments alone. No doubt, C9 will try to make him a good proposal while he’s competing at Thunderpick.
