Spirax lasts only one day in FlyQuest’s lineup

There is no doubt that the LCS Summer Split 2023 is, so far, a real nightmare for FlyQuest, one of the teams called to be protagonists in this tournament. FQ surprised everyone in the Spring Split 2023, getting one step away from a place in the MSI 2023. In addition, the team dominated the regular season in the standings. However, the Summer Split is terrible for them, and they are showing it in every way.

After a dreadful 3-9 start in the Summer Split, FlyQuest added academy mid-laner Djalar “Spirax” Djiar to the starting lineup. This move sent one of this season’s star signings, Lee “VicLa” Dae-Kwang, straight to the team’s bench. However, FlyQuest returns VicLa to the starting lineup after just one day and one game.

FlyQuest return VicLa to the team’s starting lineup

After one match playing with Spirax (where they fell to NRG Esports), FlyQuest returned VicLa to their starting lineup for the match against Evil Geniuses. There is no doubt that this is a completely unexpected move, as everything pointed to Spirax staying with the team until the end of the regular season. However, according to FlyQuest, this was a “planned move regardless of the team’s result against NRG.

FlyQuest allowed Spirax to debut in the top-tier League of Legends in the NA region. The organization announced this move through a video on its Twitter account, where Chris “PapaSmithy” Smith (president) and Nick “Swaguhsaurus” Phan (GM) mentioned that the test would be in the match against NRG. However, Swaguhsaurus mentioned that Spirax could stay much longer if the team’s results improved. Likewise, it is now a fact that VicLa will be part of the team’s starting lineup for the rest of the Split.

Spirax had a decent debut in the LCS

While it’s true that FlyQuest fell to NRG in just 27 minutes, Spirax’s performance wasn’t all bad, as they had a KDA of 3/2/3. However, Spirax’s opponent in the mid-lane of Summoner’s Rift, Cristian “Palafox” Palafox, did his part and took advantage of the CF rookie’s inexperience to lead his team to victory.

On the other hand, it is worth noting that VicLa’s return to the starting lineup was very good, as FlyQuest got a crushing victory over Evil Geniuses, a team struggling at the top of the table, in just 24 minutes. This makes us think that the day off for VicLa was enough to lift the team’s spirits.

However, FlyQuest’s hope of advancing to the next phase of the tournament depends on winning the four remaining games and waiting for some results from other teams. Remember, they have a 4-10 record, and eight teams qualify for the playoffs.

FlyQuest’s four remaining games will be against Team Liquid, TSM, Immortals, and Cloud9. As a result, it is an extremely tough schedule, and the team must win all four games to secure their spot in the playoffs.
