Players who retire, others who return, that’s what the Counter-Strike competitive scene is made of nowadays. However, other players also extend their ties with organizations, reaffirming that they are fundamental parts of them.

In this opportunity, Astralis announced the extension or renewal of Benjamin “blameF” Bremer’s contract for two more seasons; that is, the Dane will be in Astralis, at least, until 2025.

After arriving at the Danish squad at the end of 2021, the rifler is now, after Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, the longest-serving team member in the Danish organization. On the other hand, this also reaffirms that blameF has done a spectacular job as Astralis’ IGL after he had to take over the team’s baton at a difficult time in 2023. However, the team performed exceptionally well under the Danish Rifler.

Astralis announces blameF’s contract extension until 2025

Through an official statement on its Twitter/X account, Astralis announced that blameF agreed to extend his contract with the organization until 2025.

For now, blameF’s role as Astralis’ IGL has been exceptional, considering that he had to take over the team when the organization surprised everyone by sending its former captain, Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander, to the bench. However, this move only reaffirmed Astralis’ commitment to return to having a competitive team and thus be at the top of the Counter-Strike competitive scene.

On the other hand, in the mini offseason we had in the summer player break, Astralis included Victor “Staehr” Staehr and Johannes “b0RUP” Borup in their lineup, which undoubtedly gave a 180° turn to their situation in terms of game pace and performance.

Astralis and its change after the summer break

As we mentioned, Astralis returned to the competitive scene with a different look, level, and game performance after the summer player break that lasted a little over a month. However, this is not only because of the restructuring of their lineup but also because they had a “strategic reconfiguration” within the staff.

Astralis sealed their ticket to the BLAST Premier Fall Finals 2023. However, this did not stop there, as they achieved an impressive performance at the IEM Cologne 2023 by finishing in the TOP 4. Finally, they advanced to the playoffs in the ESL Pro League S18 that is currently being played after finishing in third place in Group A.

On the other hand, talking again about blameF, there is no doubt that he is still the team’s pillar despite being 26 years old. In the last 3 months, the Danish rifler/IGL of Astralis has a 1.25 Rating, according to HLTV.

Furthermore, blameF remains a force to be reckoned with despite acknowledging to HLTV that his switch to captaincy would affect his performance. Over the past three months, the 26-year-old blameF has consistently stood out as the team’s most outstanding player with an impressive 1.25 rating and has only posted a negative rating on three maps during that period.

The big challenge for Astralis in the coming weeks is to get through the ESL Pro League S18 playoffs and finish among the best in the tournament.
