The different esports organizations worldwide continue to make changes or additions to their player lineups to face this new competitive year. Some are releasing their players looking for a change of scenery, while others are adding to their existing lineups.

North American organization and Riot Games partnership program member Cloud9 has signed a seventh player to its VALORANT lineup. This is according to Riot’s global contract database.

In recent times, it has been a trend in top-tier organizations to form lineups of many players. Many use them to create two teams (one from the academy) and others to have different alternatives in tournaments. It seems that Cloud9 has decided to dabble in this type of alignment. So we will have to wait and see if this works out for them.

Hasan “BlackHeart” Hammad joins Cloud9

Former Silk Road player and current free agent Hasan “BlackHeart” Hammad has signed with Cloud9 as an alternate on a three-year contract through 2026. Due to tight schedules, BlackHeart will not travel to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to compete in the VCT LOCK//IN on February 13.

Blackheart played in the VALORANT Challengers League open qualifiers in January. The Canadian was part of the lineup of a team called Silk Road that finished in the top 32 of the LCQ, as they lost against “i love valorant.”

This player has not had such a recognized career. He has only been part of the Built By Gamers Academy for two years on the competitive scene. This means that this will be the first top-level organization that Blackheart will represent; also, he will have the privilege of playing in the VCT 2023, as C9 is one of the partner teams. What better way to debut at the highest competitive level, right?

About Clou9

As mentioned, Cloud9 is one of the organizations selected to be part of Riot Games’ partnership program for VCT 2023 in the Americas. Each team can submit a maximum of 10 players in their VALORANT lineup.

The entire Cloud9 team (except for BlackHear, of course) is in Brazil, ready for their first international VALORANT event. The VCT LOCK//IN Sao Paulo 2023 will have the participation of all 30 partner teams from all regions of the world. Plus, two guests from the China region.

In its first tournament match, Cloud9 will face Paper Rex in the official opening of the new VCT 2023. However, due to the format implemented in the VCT 2023 tournaments, the team will be eliminated if they lose in this match. On the other hand, if they win, they will face the winner between BBL Esports and DRX.
