BetBoom Dacha is a Dota 2 tournament that will be played between September 10-16. The competition is designed to be a training ground for The International 2023, which will begin one month later.

The organizers of BetBoom Dacha, as the name of the event suggests, are BetBoom Esports and FISSURE. This is an invitation-based tournament and only one of the eight participants will be offered the chance to qualify.

Competitive format

Because it only features eight teams but lasts for a week, BetBoom Dacha uses a competitive format that seeks to maximize the number of matches that the audience can watch.

The eight teams are divided into two groups of four and each group uses the round-robin format. Every match during the group stage is best-of-two. The bottom team is eliminated. The 3rd place team advances to the lower bracket of the playoffs. The top two teams go to the upper bracket.

The playoffs stage consists of a double-elimination contest. The first round of the lower bracket is played between the lower bracket teams and the losers of the first round of the upper bracket. Every match is best-of-three, with the exception of the Grand Final.

Participants

Six of the eight participants are already known:

  • Team Spirit
  • BetBoom Team
  • 9Pandas
  • Gaimin Gladiators
  • Team Aster
  • Beastcoast

All of these teams are formidable and rank among the best in their regions. Clearly, the organizers prioritized Eastern Europe because BetBoom is from the region. So all of the top three EEU teams have been invited.

Favorites

Given that Team Spirit won the recent Riyadh Masters, it’s hard to not regard them as one of the favorites. Two other teams that could easily win the tournament are BetBoom and Gaimin Gladiators.

In BetBoom’s case, they finished 5th – 6th at Riyadh Masters and were eliminated by Gladiators. But the match was intense and the final score was 2-1. Both of these have what it takes to win against anyone in the world.

If Gladiators have a good week, they will probably be the ones to win the tournament. At this level, there’s almost nothing that can match their prowess. But the condition is for them to play their A game. In Riyadh, that didn’t happen, so they finished 4th.

Team Aster are busy preparing for the Chinese Qualifier for TI12 at the moment. Based on how they perform in that tournament, we’ll know what their odds are at this event.
